Lionel Messi

The qualities of an icon are they have talent, they only participate when it counts, they're the best of their sport, and they also represent the sport. A hero is somebody like Lionel Messi because he inspired kids from his hometown in Argentina to play youth soccer to become famous.  An icon is somebody like Lionel Messi because he has won 3 golden balls and is the best soccer player alive right now. The golden ball is the award they give to the soccer player who scores the most goals in the season. The president of the FIFA gives the award.       

Throughout Messi's career he has received numerous awards.  For the past three years Messi has been the winner of the golden ball.  The golden ball is an award where multiple players get nominated and whoever has done the best during the year will win the award.  He has also won the golden boot along with many other league awards.  The golden boot is awarded to the player with the most goals scored in a season.  He recently broke a record for his club FC Barcelona for most goals scored in a career.  He has scored 234 and he is only 24 years old which means that he will score many more as he still has a lot of time before his career ends.

Lionel Messi is currently the best soccer player alive.  His career started when he was only 17. As a child he was diagnosed with a disease in his back which would not allow him to grow like a normal person. This is called a growth hormone deficiency, which happens when a person does not produce enough growth hormones. Barcelona offered to pay for all his medical expenses as long as he played for the team, Messi immediately accepted.  He and his family moved to Barcelona to live there and he began playing.  Ever since then he is known all around the world for his outstanding soccer skills.  You might think that he is a very "cocky" player since he is the best in the world but he is actually not.  He pays much attention to his family and even visits his hometown every time he gets a chance.  Even though he is a great soccer player he still puts a lot of practice into his career because he wants to do better every time.  I believe that Lionel Messi is a great example of a sports hero.
108283Lionel Messigoogle images -unknown Lionel Messi is one of the best athletes in the professional soccer league. We chose Lionel Messi because we are all soccer fans and look up to him. He inspired us because he is one of the best soccer players in the world and is definitely a role model for all of us. We all look up to him because he has broken world records which are very difficult to achieve. Also, at a very young age he was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency. His parents could not afford the price of the treatment, so Barcelona made a deal with him. Barcelona said if he moved to Spain they would pay his medical bills. Lionel Messi never forgot how he got past those rough times. Because of his soccer talent, he was able to get the right treatment. That inspires many of us because we must not forget where we came from and how we got here. Lionel Messi's world records, his dedication, and the fact that he never gave up are why we chose Lionel Messi and why we look up to him.
