INTRODUCING MY HERO : My hero is Laika, she's a courageous dog. She unfortunately died for Science. It's a female dog, she was born in 1954 in Moscow. She's the first living animal who was placed in orbit around the Earth in the capsule, Spoutnik-2. Laika was about 3 years old and weighed 6 kg and her capsule, Spoutnik-2, measured 4m height 2m in diameter and weighed 508 kg. The USSR has sent her into space in November 3, 1957 and she's dead for Science in appalling conditions. She died before her oxygen reserves have been exhausted. Everything suggests that she died after falling into a coma, not without having suffered terribly from heat and dehydration. Yet, the official time given by the Kremlin was that the dog had died by poison mixed with her food.

BIOGRAPHY : Laika was discovered in the street in Moscow, Laika was about to embark on a long journey. November 3, 1957, Laika was installed in his rocket for takeoff. Sputnik 2 was not designed to return to Earth. The lifeless corpse of the dog spent several months in orbit around the earth, fell into the atmosphere and disintegrated before her arrival on Earth April 14, 1958. She died long before her oxygen reserves have been exhausted. She died after falling into a coma, not without having suffered terribly from heat and dehydration. This temperature increase is therefore responsible for her death as well as too much stress. Yet the official time given by the Kremlin was that the dog had died by poison mixed with her food so as not to hurt her when returning in the atmosphere.
CONCLUSION : I choose this hero because she's a courageous female dog, the first animal to turn in orbit around the earth and die for the Science. There were other dogs who went into space like : Verebok, Ugolyok, Belka et Strelka. But I chose Laika because she was a brave dog and as I said earlier, the first animal to be in orbit around the earth.
