Lars Ulrich

Lars Ulrich was born on December 26th, 1963 in Gentofte, Denmark. He’s a short man of only 5'7" and he only weighs 130 lbs. He has blond hair and green eyes. His favorite foods are French food, tuna, sushi and frozen yogurt. Lars drives a Porsche, Chevy Blazer, Range Rover and a Saab. He was married on Jan. 27th , 1997, and he has two children.

When Lars was 10 years old, he fell in love with the music of Richie Blackmore and Deep Purple. After listening to them non-stop for three years, his grandmother bought him his first drum set. During Lars’ young age, he played tennis, but soon after moving to California, his interests changend to girls, and rock & roll. Lars enjoyed playing metal music so much that he started playing with James Hetfield. After moving to England, Lars was discovered by Brian Slagel from Metal Blade Records. Lars needed a guitarist to accompany him so he decided to give his old friend, James Hetfield a call, and that's where Metallica was created. Since those days , Lars is still much like he was when he was young. He’s very loyal, attentive, and determined. Today his music is as important as his wife, Skylar, and two boys, Myles and Layne.

His life as drummer for Metallica:

Lars Ulrich and guitarist James Hetfield formed the band, Metallica, in 1981. The band's first album was Kill ‘Em All, released in 1983, during this album the member’s were James Hetfield (guitarist), Lars Ulrich(drummer), Kirk Hammet(guitarist) and Cliff Burton(bass). On September 27th 1986 there was a tragic accident when touring in Sweden, their tour bus turned over killing Cliff Burton. After over coming that tragic accident the band continued to play their Kill ‘Em All Album.

In 1986 the band found a new bass player named Jason Newsted. With Jason, Metallica made a few albums that always went to the top of the charts( Garage Days Re-visited, ...And justice for all, Metallica Black album, Load, Re-load, Garage Inc., S&M). Four years after being out of the spotlight Metallica released St. Anger in 2003 and it was their comeback album after James Hetfield went through rehab. All the fans fell back in love with the band.

Lars Ulrich is my hero because:
Lars Ulrich is my hero because the life he has is the life I would like to live. He gets to play his drums in front of millions of people and the rest of the time just relax with his family. I have learned many drum beats off of what I hear from their songs, and also, I admire the way he lives life the way he wants to and has the chance to express himself in his music.

If I could ever meet him in person, I would ask him how he wrote such good lyrics and instrumental patterns. Also I would ask if he could change anything in his life what it would be. I would ask him what his best memory was, and if he didn’t play heavy metal music what would he do in life.
