A hero doesn’t have to be famous, personal, a certain age, a certain gender, or even a certain species. As long as you’re brave, confident, make people happy, and give a person someone to look up to, you’re a hero. You don’t have to be like Superman to be a hero. My hero is a Malaysian doctor named Dr. Tan Jee Lim.
Dr. Tan Jee Lim graduated from the NUS Medical Facility in 1990. He has an HMDP in Sports Medicine. He specializes in orthopedic surgery and mostly works on knees. This man has diplomas for orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He is even known for having a device to replace the meniscuise, a ‘c’ shaped pad in your knee. He helps football players and soccer players with accidents that result in knee injuries. He is also an avid golfer and swimmer. WOW! He can do it all!
Dr. Tan Jee Lim, in my way of seeing him, possesses the traits of a hero-fearless, selfless, and intelligent. He is fearless because he will not stop until he helps his patients. Dr. Tan could have picked any job that was fun for him, instead he picked a job that helped other people, and that is what makes him a hero. Last, but not least, he is intelligent because he knows about bodily systems, how they work, and how to fix them which helps him save lives.
Finally, a hero saves lives and makes people happy. Dr. Tan of Singapore has been helping people with knee injuries and that makes him a hero. Not only do other people think he is a good person, but his patients know it. Everyone has a hero. Who might yours be?
