Through My Eyes
Everyone has a hero. They could be famous like Miley Cyrus. They could be from history like Martin Luther King. They could be one of your friends, or even someone in your family. No matter who it is, they will always be your special hero.
My hero is someone who has always been there for me and is close to my heart. That person is Lori Burnett, otherwise known as my mom. My mom has overcome a lot of obstacles. When she was little, she had no parents. She got adopted by my grandpa and grandma. When she was seven years old, her mom died.
Another thing she overcame was being without her son for four years because she sent him to a school in Utah. After about a year and a half, he went to a school in Montana, but finally, he got to come home.
My mom is also responsible. She gets up every morning, feeds us breakfast, takes a shower, gets ready for work, and never forgets anything. If you ask her to do something you can count on her to do it.
She inspires people to do right. When we go to church, she teaches the five year olds. When she’s there, she inspires the kids to be kind and love each other. The kids love her. She is very inspiring.
The one thing my mom has a lot of is determination. She will make a goal and achieve it. Right now we’re re-doing our kitchen. She got everything new and put it all in. It took her about two weeks. She got it done really fast, because she was determined.
My mom is a leader. If people don’t know what to do she will give suggestions and ideas and take charge.
She also has honor. She respects people and treats them fairly. If her boss tells her to cover for someone, she will do it, even if she doesn’t want to. Because her boss is higher in authority, she respects him. I remember this time when my mom and I were talking, she told me that I’m worth a million dollars. That made me feel special. It also showed me how much she loves me.
That’s my hero and my mom. I love her more then anything in the world. I wouldn’t change anything about her. She’s my mom, but she’s also my special hero.
Timeline
My mom was born on December 27th
When she was seven her mom died.
She had my brother, Stephen Matthew James Burnett.
We went to Las Vegas, and we went to this big giant place. It was an arcade with a whole bunch of things to do. It had games, jungle gyms, lasar tag, restaurants, movie theatre, bowling, and indoor roller coasters. Our hotel was the coolest hotel I have ever been to. It was shaped like a clown, and the rooms were huge.
We went to California with my mom, my aunt, my brother, and my brother’s friend Tim. We went to Sea World, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, and Disney World.
My mom went on the three day walk for breast cancer, and when she got back, her feet were all swollen, and she couldn’t even walk.
We went to New York for summer vacation. We saw the Empire State Building, Ground Zero, and we went up inside the Statue of Liberty. We went there for my cousin’s baseball tournament in Cooperstown. And we saw all the baseball hall of fame. That was the best vacation I ever took. Except the ride up there. It took thirteen hours, and plus I had to share the back seat with my mom's friend’s son, and he kept pushing me off the seat.
We went to Six Flags with Emily, Ashley, Caitlin, and me. It was so fun. We went on Superman, and we went on the Demon about ten times, it was so much fun. We also went on batman. That ride is not scary, but it is my favorite ride.
She went to Nashville, Tennessee. She goes every year with her friend Lynn. They go to the country music festival. They see a lot of famous people and singers. They have a lot fun.
She went to my cheerleading competition, and we had a lot of fun. My friend Emily and I were crying because that’s how nervous we were. But my mom took me for a walk, and she calmed me down.
When I was little I was in modeling, my mom took me to every show, and class. Modeling was fun. When I turn sixteen I can go and get a contract.
