MY HERO TO HONOR WINNERS AND STAFF OF LAGUNA BLUEBELT COALITION’S 2017 PHOTO CONTEST
LAGUNA BEACH, CA – 05/25/17 - The MY HERO Project will honor The Laguna Bluebelt Coalition staff, and the 13 winning artists of the coalition’s 2017 photo contest at the Laguna Hero Fest on June 8 at [seven-degrees] in Laguna.
The Laguna Hero Fest is an annual event that honors individuals and organization making significant contributions to the Laguna Beach community. The family-friendly event features art, music and inspiring short films. This is the 10th-annual Laguna Hero Fest. It takes place on World Oceans Day, June 8, 2017.

The Laguna Bluebelt Coalition is a community ocean conservation organization that works to protect marine life and areas. For the past six years, staff members have held an annual photography contest to encourage amateur and professionals to capture the uniqueness and beauty of Laguna’s coastline and the marinelife that dwells within it. The idea is to raise awareness of local coastline areas and encourage citizens to help protect Laguna’s natural resources.
The MY HERO Project will present Laguna Hero awards to Jinger Wallace, Charlotte Masarik, Mike Beanen and Ray Hiemstra. The MY HERO Project Gallery will present Art Hero awards to the 13 winners of this year’s contest. In the Professional Category, this year’s MY HERO Art Honorees include: Dan Stensland, 1st Place; Brian Crawford, 2nd Place; Sean Hunter Brown, 3rd Place; and George Bryan and Cliff Wassmann, Honorable Mention.

In the Amateur Category, R. Scott Elgram, 1st Place; Garrett Woods, 2nd Place; Suzanne Greenberg, 3rd Place; and David A Munday and Billy Fried, Honorable Mention all received awards. Jeff Fernandez and Mary Hurlbut both tied in the Best of the Rest Facebook award while Deanne Beck was the Runner Up in this popular contest.
The family friendly evening program from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, includes music, art, films and an award ceremony honoring artists, activists, and environmental heroes. A youth afternoon program, from 3:30 - 5:00 pm, features a performance by Ocean Warrior students from Top of the World Elementary School, along with inspiring short films, art and ocean conservation-related activities.
Award-winning photographs will be exhibited at [seven-degrees] for this event.

The Laguna Hero Fest is free and open to the public with a suggested donation. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at [seven-degrees].
