Some heroes save lives, others inspire people. My hero falls under the inspiring heroes. My hero is Marvin Lee Aday, also known as Meatloaf. Marvin was born into a family where his mother was deathly ill and a father was battling alcoholism. Most of his childhood years he was verbally abused because of his obesity. In spite of these obstacles he went on with his life.
Meatloaf was born on September 1947 in Dallas Texas U.S.A. on September 27, 1947. When Marvin was young he and his mother would drive around the city picking up his drunken father. Because of this Meatloaf was mostly at his grandmother’s house. Also when he was young he was verbally abused by his dad and kids at school really badly until he could not take it any more and to think about it, it was because he was obese. After attending Lubbock Christian College Marvin, was transferred to Texas State University. While he was at Texas State he got called up for an army physical so he tried to fail it by gaining 68 pounds in 4 and a half weeks. They determined he was fit, despite him being colour blind. In 1967 after seeing his mother hospitalized and her health deteriorating, Meatloaf stole his dad’s credit card and moved to Los Angeles where he became a bouncer at a teenage nightclub.
Marvin claims shortly after his mother's death when his father tried to kill him with a knife after his father had become drunk. He barely escaped after he and his dad had that bad fight. After Meatloaf got his inheritance from his mother’s death, he moved into an apartment in Dallas separated from anyone he knew. After 3 months a friend found him and he bought a car with the rest of his inheritance and drove to California.
Now he has starred in many plays but he was best known for his role in Hair. After his acting career he started singing because he had a deep but loud voice so this gave him an even better career. Since then he has produced lots of albums but my favorite is “Bat Out Of Hell 2, Back Into Hell.” Also my favorite song by Meatloaf is on the album. It is “I Would Do Anything For love, But I Won’t Do That.”
The reason that I think of Meatloaf as a hero is because he has been through a lot and has gone so far. This inspires me because he never gave up even in the toughest moments of his life. He always looked on the bright side. Just look how he turned out.
