Michael Collins was born in Sams Cross Clonakilty Co. Cork. He was the youngest of 8 children. When Collins was 6 his dad died. He went to Lisavaird national school. His school master was part of I.R.B (Irish republican brotherhood).

His first job was in a post office in Clonakilty. After a year he went to London and lived with his sister and worked in a postal savings bank. He was 15. He spent the next 9 years in London. While in London he was active Gaelic Athletic League and the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB)

Later he became secretary and then the president of the IRB. Later he came back to Ireland and took part in the 1916 rising. He got 26 counties of Ireland free. Later he became a leader of the Irish civil war. He died with a bullet to the head at Beal na Blath, Co.Cork
