Mark Geragos

Mark Geragos has inspired me to be an active and beneficial member of my community. I have always been good at arguing and debating. Over the years, a lot of people told me that I would be a good lawyer, so naturally, I looked into it. I will be honest, I only became aware of Mark Geragos when I was older, around 14 or 15. I like Mark Geragos because he is good at what he does. He also has some good traits such as integrity and honesty (not often associated with lawyers). He has done a lot for his community and his proud of his background. I look up to him as a career hero because of these.

There are many types of lawyers. I am not completely sure about which type I would like to be, but I was thinking either patent or criminal defense. Average lawyer income varies quite a bit. According to salary.com, lawyer income is on average from $100,000 to $200,000 but some lawyers make 3 million+ annually. To be a lawyer, you need at least a bachelor's degree and pass the bar exam. I, however, would like to get my doctorate (JD) because I have always wanted a higher education. Some similar jobs are judges, plus there are many different types of lawyers. Another thing about this career is that laws are can change or be revised, such as the gun laws, gay marriage laws, etc. Some are added, some are taken away, and some are being revised. If you are not interested in law, it can be a very difficult job. I, however, would like to get my doctorate (JD) because I have always wanted a higher education. I could not find very much on Mr. Geragos' childhood. I know that he was born on October 5, 1957 in Los Angeles, according to geragos.com. He currently lives and practices law in LA. He is Armenian American and started a club because of it when he was young. He always had an interest in law and wanted to become a lawyer. He graduated high school and from Haverford College in 1979 with honors. He has served on some of the most prestigious criminal defense teams and has had many notable clients such as Michael Jackson Like I said, I chose Mr. Geragos because of his integrity and honesty he has according to many of his clients and friends.

Mr. Geragos has also contributed to society. He is an active member of the Armenian Community in his area, says armeniapedia.com and ladowntownnews.com. Also, he has done a lot of work through his job, being a lawyer. Lawyers are a necessary part of every country. Without them, the judicial system would crumble. Without the judicial system, the country would fall into chaos with no one to enforce the law. Through his job, he serves his country.

I plan to be on the debate team within the next few years here at Capistrano Valley High School. I may also take Psychology in high school because I have always been fascinated in how the brain works. In college, I will major in psychology, business, and law. I am planning on attending a UC school such as Berkeley or UCLA and get my bachelors and masters and taking my bar exam after my either my bachelors or masters degrees. I will then proceed to obtain my doctorate (JD). After college, I may either start my own law firm or join an existing one. Mr. Geragos has taught me that nothing in life comes easy. Either you work hard now and relax later, or relax now and work much harder later on.
