My hero is Mia Hamm. I know her because she is a famous professional soccer player. She was born on March 17, 1972 in Selma, Alabama. She now lives in Los Angeles, CA. She has 2 girls which are twins and their names are Grace and Ava. She also has a boy named Garrett and a husband named Nomar. She doesn't play soccer anymore, but she still loves it. She started playing it when she was nine and played soccer for 17 years. She retired when she was 32.

Mia Hamm is my hero because she scored 158 international goals, more than any other player, male or female in soccer history. Mia Hamm joined the United States Women's National Soccer Team at age fifteen which made her the youngest ever to play. In 1991 the Women's National Team won the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time. She was the first American woman to win a World Cup Championship at the age of 19. She was a part of the U.S. team for the first Women's Olympic Soccer Tournament in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. She helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and was also chosen by her fellow U.S. Olympians to carry the American flag at the Athens Closing Ceremonies. In the game, which the U.S. won 5-0, Mia Hamm assisted on two of the goals. She is one of three longtime national team members who announced their retirement from international play at the end of the tour.

She inspires me by how hard she works in soccer, and how determined and competitive she is. She also inspires me because she didn't give up on her goals and tried her best.

Mia Hamm makes me want to try my best in things even though they may not always be in soccer. She also encourages me to reach my goals and to work hard to achieve them, like getting better grades in school and moving up to different positions in soccer. I think Mia Hamm is athletic, talented, and fast. I love soccer and so does she. I am going to work harder to achieve my goals like she did. I appreciate how much she inspires me.
