A hero for me is a person that changed the World for you, a person who changed it doing good things. A hero is important to you. But my hero is not only important to me, he is important for all Mexico and his name is Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.

Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla

My name is Fernando. I am fourteen years old, and my hero is Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla because he was a man who fought bravely against the Spanish. He saw a lot of injustice in Mexico and he did not stay without doing anything. He lived in a period where Mexico was full of poor people because the Spanish people forced them to work a lot of hours and the pay was very little. So he decided to convince the town to fight with all what they had, and that is one of his biggest accomplishments.

He lived in Dolores Hidalgo. He was a priest of the church. In Dolores, he had secret reunions with Do�a Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Aldama and Allende. He was born at the Corrlejo Hacienda in Denjamo Guanajuato, on May, 8, 1753, and he learned theology at Obispo College.

And he is a hero for me because thanks to him we are free. We have our own rules. We have an identity and we are who we are. He changed the world for me and all the country.
