Michael Jackson

What is a hero? What do you say when someone asks you, who is your hero? My hero, Michael Jackson is a strong and passionate musician who did not go through an easy life. He suffered abuse and struggled as an artist because of his skin color but still got through everything to become the legend he once was. He was an extraordinary dancer and singer but not everyone would give him chance to shine bright, so that's why, when someone asks me who my hero is, I say Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson was born August 29, 1958. He was an African American from Gary, Indiana. Jackson was 8th of 9 kids, there would have been a 10th kid but unfortunately, he died at birth. The Jackson family lived in a 3 room house with 2 bathrooms, so it wasn't the luxurious life Michael Jackson used to live. His mother worked as a waitress because back then women were limited to where they could work. His father, on the other hand, was a Jazz Singer. Michael Jackson was abused by his father because Michael wanted to be a singer and not the profession his dad wanted him to be. Even though he was abused he claimed that his father was still a big reason why he was famous.

Being able to sing and dance for other people was a huge honor for Michael Jackson. He began singing at the age of 4. Jackson enjoyed being able to sing at many Christmas Recitals and his brothers knew he had a fabulous talent ahead of him. His dad thought that he should start a band with his brothers and they became "The Jackson 5". Michael Jackson became the lead vocalist. Later on, Michael Jackson wanted to become a solo artist because he was not a huge believer in group bands. This made his brothers very upset but they later realized it was up to him. Michael Jackson started singing alone at 19 and was huge with "Thriller" and "Wanna be Startin Somethin". Michael Jackson made a good decision leaving the Jackson 5 and becoming his own person.

In his life Michael Jackson has lived through a lot of false accusations. Michael Jackson has been accused of child abuse for 15 years. Jackson had a "friend" whose kid was 13 years old and they claimed Jackson molested him and had "sleepovers with him". A 20 million dollar jury case payed off for Jackson and made him not guilty after so long. In 2003, Michael Jackson was accused again by a 12 year old boy who was a cancer patient in St. Jude's Children Hospital. Michael was devastated that this happened once again and even though the case was closed and Michael Jackson was claimed not guilty, many thought it was just because he was famous. Till this day, even after his death, many look down on Jackson because people wanted to make a little money off him, but others still think of Michael as the legend he is today.

All in all, Michael Jackson was a strong, brave, talented musician. He fought for what he believed in and he always did what was right. Michael Jackson is strong and whenever someone asks me who my hero is I never hesitate to say the king of pop: Michael Jackson.
