Marc Jacobs

I was 13 years old when the first time I fall in love with Marc Jacobs' designs. Although I only saw his design in fashion magazines or television, his designs could make me feel confident to wear any kind of clothes and it could make me enjoy designing clothes. Yes, my dream is to be a great designer just like Jacobs. His designs are very inspiring, prestigious, yet screaming.

Marc Jacobs was born in 1963, New York City. He attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City and he graduated in 1981. When he was 15 years old, he once worked as a stockboy in an avant-garde clothing boutique in New York City. After his short career being such a stockboy, he entered Parsons School of Designs, which has made lots of young talented fashion designers such as Donna Karan, etc.

Mr. Jacobs was a brilliant young designer at that time. He won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award in 1984 and in the same year was also awarded the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year Award. It happened when he was still in Parsons.

No wonder, Jacobs always gives many surprises in his collections. His collections are unique. Most of his designs are inspired by nature and present problems that people in the world face.

He has had a very long-lasting career in fashion world. His debut was being a designer at Perry Ellis. Then he continued designing in his own design house, Marc Jacobs, since 1980s until present, and he recently launched his 2nd line, Marc by Marc Jacobs and little marc. His designs for Marc by Marc Jacobs are not only charming but also affordable. He is also the designer of a fabulous French design house, Louis Vuitton.

Although Jacobs had many problems to face, he'd never give up. Another great designer, Oscar de La Renta, has even claimed that Jacobs was a copyist. But he didn't give any bad feedback to that statement. All he did at that time was only create beautiful and innovative collections. I like his style, being a very outstanding quirky person that has inspired many people all around the world.
