Michelle Kwan is a hero to many people because people were inspired by her and looked up to her. Some people want to follow into her footsteps. People want to be like her. Most people loved her performances.

Michelle was born on June 7, 1980. Michelle Kwan was five years old when she started skating. In 1987 Michelle Kwan, age 7, first won an ice skating event. Michelle was so happy.

Michelle was very good but she is much better now. Michelle fell sometimes but she hardly ever did. She got inspired by Ron her brother that played ice hockey at the center. Michelle and her sister loved ice skating from the start. Their parents knew they would ask to do ice skating. They had to train to do ice skating in the morning before school.

The troubles they had was the scholarship to help pay of the center debts which they had to pay $1,000 for costumes and brand new ice skates. They had to pay 50,000 to 60,000 dollars to keep the girls at the center and they had to sell their house to help pay off the debts. They had to hire tutors for ice skating and for school and both tutors cost a lot of money. Michelle had to keep up with her scholarship and the bad thing about her career is that she was placed in 8th place in 1994 world championships.

Michelle had many contributions. Michelle did ice skating lessons and she tried to be the best that she can be and she had to keep up with her scholarship to pay off her center bills. People believed in Michelle. And Michelle believed in herself. When she first got in 8th place it made her do better at ice skating. In 1997 she first wrote an autobiography for doing so good. In 1985 Michelle began ice skating lessons because it looked so fun!

Michelle Kwan’s awards and honors are in 1995 when she won first place in a U.S. competition. In 1995 Michelle won first place in the world competition. In 1997-1998 Winter Olympics she won 2nd place. Wow that is amazing.

Michelle Kwan’s character traits are BRAVE. She tries to be the best that she can be. She was BRAVE because she started at a young age and tried it and did not fail and was BRAVE enough to be put in 8th place and made a fool of herself. She was BRAVE to start at a young age. Now here is the next one, DETERMINED. Michelle was DETERMINED to keep up with her scholarship and ice skating. She is DETERMINED to be the best that she can be. She is DETERMINED to win gold medals. Many people cheered for her. That made her even more DETERMINED to try harder and harder. Michelle Kwan is WILLING to spend so much money on ice skating. Her parents were WILLING to sell the house to pay off the ice skating bills because they did not have the money and WILLING to work hard on ice skating and school. She was WILLING to put so much time and effort into ice skating.

The conclusion is that Michelle Kwan has gone through many tough times in her life to reach her goal. That is amazing and so inspiring that hard work and sacrifices paid off in the end. I am so proud I picked her to write about. She is a hero to me. That is why I picked Michelle Kwan for my biography book. She is a hero to me and a lot of other people.
