Maura Loftus

by Hannah from Mission Viejo

Here are the values that I stand for: honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated and helping those in need. To me, those are traditional values. -Ellen DeGeneres

Maura Lynch-Loftus is my mother and she is a Social Worker. She is an amazing therapist who works four days a week. She helps people every day of her life whether it's on the phone or in person. It's an amazingly rewarding job and she loves it. She saves lives just by letting people tell her there problems that are bothering them.

My mom went to Laguna Beach College and San Diego College. She got her Master's Degree in Social Work after six years of college. She gets around 40 to 120 dollars per client, per appointment. Some careers she could have chosen that would be sports therapist or a school counselor. My mom has been working since she had gotten out of college and she has learned new techniques on helping people. She always strives to help her clients.

Maura is a hard worker, has a lot of perseverance, has a big heart that wants to help people, and has a lot of patience. Maura is so patient she has to sit down for an hour listening to people's situations and has to help them with their feelings. When she went to a school she was a straight A student and was a cheerleader in high school. She had both a social life and a great career option. She was working in high school to prepare herself for college and her career. She took classes pertaining to her goal as being a therapist.

Maura helps up to 10 people a day who are having problems in their personal life and need someone to talk to. She has helped over thousands of people throughout her career from all over Orange County and even personal friends and her family. She has helped so many people and she loves what she does because she actually changes people's lives. She believes that she has defiantly chosen the right career path for herself.

While I'm in high school I will take every step I can to become a criminal therapist. Even though this isn't the exact same career as my mother, she can still help me a lot. When I'm a junior I'm going to take psychology classes until the end of senior year. I'm also going to have my mom help teach me more about what she really does and how to respond to the people's personal problems. Also while I'm still in high school I'm going to be looking at colleges that will help me with me with my long term goal. I think for college I'm going to do what my mother did, I'm going to go to San Diego College for the first four years of college and I don't know yet what I'm going to do for my master's degree. I think my lifetime goal is to open my own business for therapy and having many clients come to me thought my life time. I believe my mother has left a huge impact on my life and will help me with my future plans.
