I picked Mickey Mantle because when I started learning about him it inspired me to practice baseball and learn to switch hit. My book is a biography, it has 468 pages. The book starts off when he was in the middle of a game. Mickey was a rookie at the age of 19 years old. Jane Leavy was born on Boxing Day. Jane made the best baseball comic ever..All her books are based on interviews.

Mickey Mantle was born October 20, 1931, in Oklahoma. Mickey and his family grew up in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Mickey has five siblings: Larry, Butch, Roy, Ray and Barbara. Mickey's parents are Lovell and Elven. Mickey's dad taught Mickey how to play baseball just before Mickey stated walking.Mickey went to the Commence High School and University of Oklahoma. Mickey really liked playing baseball and he wanted to make the MLB. When Mickey was playing a game the pitcher threw the ball.  Mickey's dad influenced him and taught Mickey to be a switch hitter. One of Mickey's dreams was to play in the MLB. That dream came true the day he sighed the contract to the Yankees. When Mickey was younger he wanted to make it to the MLB. Mickey got hit in the leg and it would affect him in his later years.

Mickey Mantle's worst challenge was when he got liver cancer that would affect his baseball career. Also when Mickey got a baseball in the leg that would also affect his career later on. Mickey fought through his injuries and kept playing but when his cancer got too bad and he was told if he didn't get a new kidney he would die in two or three weeks. Mickey's dad helped him start practising baseball. The couple words I would explain Mickey would be athletic, fast and strong. One of Mickey's weaknesses was his liver cancer that affected his baseball career. Another one is when he was in high school during a baseball game he got hit in the leg and that would also affect his career later on. Something sad for Mickey was he lost a baseball game 12 1. Mickey has received into the Hall of Fame award and the best player on the team.

When I started learning about Mickey it surprised me that when he started playing baseball he could barely walk and his dad taught him to be a switch hitter. The three questions that I would ask him is how did you live with four brothers and and a sister, How good was your dad at baseball, and did you get in a lot of fights with your siblings. I would love to be Mickey's child because he could teach me a lot of baseball. I wouldn't like to be Mickey's child because I couldn't make it to all his baseball games. I liked the book I read because it told me all about Mickey Mantle I also liked the book because it's not short like other books, it's 468 pages. I learned that Mickey was great at hitting home runs. Something that me and Mickey have in common is we both play baseball - I'm good, he's good. Some people would like to read this book because they could learn something interesting about Mickey. People wouldn't like to read my book because it's a long book and they might not want to spend a lot of time on a book. I'm happy I chose to learn about Mickey Mantle because I learned that he was the best baseball player ever. Mickey is a role model to me because when I started learning about him it inspired me to practice= baseball.
