Marilyn Monroe

by Mckay from Newark

A woman who some young females look up to is Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe is a blonde careless woman who only wants the world as she says in her quote, "Beneath the makeup and behind the smile, I'm just a girl who wishes for the World." She is a Beautiful individual and she is very confident in the way she projects herself. She is My Hero because I feel as if she wants everyone to love themselves in their own skin and to be comfortable with the way they look.

In 1926 a girl was born in the charity ward at the Los Angeles County Hospital by the name of Norma Jeane Mortenson. This beautiful baby girl was born to be a star but sadly, growing up was a little hard. She was passed from family member to family member until she finally she was moved into an Orphanage as a result of her mother's mental health. On the official Marilyn Monroe website it states, "to avoid another orphanage stay, a family friend orchestrated a marriage proposal when she was sixteen years old. When her husband was sent to the Pacific with the merchant marine, Norma Jeane began working on an assembly line at an aeronautical plant."

"In 1945 a photographer took a snapshot of the stunning brunette while at the factory and within months she became a successful model securing dozens of magazine covers and a screen test with 20th Century Fox." Norma had the ability to capture and hold the attention of people on the other side of the camera lens. In 1946, Norma's hair was changed to a platinum shade of blonde and her name then changed to Marilyn Monroe.

Over a little more than ten years, Marilyn Monroe captivated audiences through varieties of acting roles such as drama and comedy. Audiences loved her appeal and the way she looked. she performed in movies such as How To Marry A Millionaire, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Seven-Year Itch, Some Like It Hot, Don't Bother To Knock, Niagara and many others. She took her work seriously and she was one out of two students who stood out the best with her acting career. On the Marilyn Monroe website, it says "She received a Golden Globe award for her performance in Some Like It Hot and a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Bus Stop." In 1962 Marilyn Monroe bought her first house in Brentwood. She died that same year she purchased the house due to controversial circumstances. "Marilyn Monroe's personal history, achievements and contributions have made her one of the world's greatest icons. More relevant today than ever Marilyn Monroe lived a life and left a legacy that continues to excite fans all over the world." In 1962 Marilyn Monroe bought her first house in Brentwood. She is My Hero because she came from a backround of struggle going from home to home, making it big in the long run. She inspires young girls my age to always think of themselves as being beautiful. as in one of her quotes she says, Every little girl deserves to be called pretty even if they aren't. She helps me build self confidence in the way i project myself as a young woman.
