Michelle Obama is the First Lady, and the first lady to accomplish so much during her term. This indicates that Michelle is a powerful woman with immense capability of being a hero. Michelle Obama, born January 17, 1964, graduated cum laude at Princeton, and continued her education at Harvard hoping to get a law degree. When she graduated and received her job at Chicago Law Firm, it was there she then met her future husband and future leader of the United States. A hero must possess a caring heart and a determined mind set. Michelle shows these in many ways by traveling to other countries to help make women aware that their education matters, and by helping children's diets around the world become more nutritious and healthy. As Michelle clearly possesses both a caring heart and a determined mindset, it makes her capable to do almost anything proving she is a hero.

Michelle Obama has shown her caring heart through her entire life. She has always cared about people from her early years of life, to now being the First Lady. Obama goes to great lengths to allow her caring heart to go to work. "Michelle Obama will travel to Japan and Cambodia this week to kick off the administration's new effort to promote the education of millions of girls worldwide" (Huetteman). Michelle Obama is shown as a caring person in this because it shows that she cares for girls and that she wants them to get a good education. Girls are treated below men and have been for ages. Michelle Obama decided with her power, it was time to make that change. She traveled around the world to foreign countries to help the young women of the world be able to learn. Something we so greatly take advantage of and would maybe see as a small task, Michelle took as a priority to make it known, women are people too and we are entitled to do anything a man can. Obama also took initiative to travel longer and farther to help allow girls to know about the many opportunities they truly have. "The First Lady will leave Wednesday for a five-day trip to talk about Let Girls Learn, an international effort aimed at enabling millions of young women to attend, and stay in, school. President Obama, in introducing the initiative two weeks ago, said it would focus the government's disparate actions to improve girls' access to education through cooperation with other nations" (Huetteman). Michelle Obama shows caring because of her time dedication to young women around the world. Being the First Lady has many responsibilities and is very time consuming, yet Michelle seems to get it all done and more. She cares about women and their education, and traveled across the world to deliver eye opening messages supporting women's education. Michelle shows her caring heart in many ways, but especially by helping young girls. Overall Michelle has a caring heart and is therefore seen as a hero.

Michelle's commitment to the job was shown in various ways, one being that she concentrated on making sure her daughters were comfortable with their new lifestyle while pursuing her responsibilities. "After her husband's inauguration in January of 2009, Obama's top priority was ensuring that her daughters became happily and sensibly adjusted to the family's dramatically altered lifestyle. She also created an East Wing mentoring program for high school girls and began a concentrated effort to connect with Washington's thousands of federal employees, as well as indicated particular support for military families and national service. While doing so, she implemented strict eating habits for all of the White House and soon all public schools. Eating healthy is a big way to stay healthy, and Michelle was determined to make that clear to all of America, and so she did. Making all public schools have a balanced meal of vitamins and minerals to ensure the children were eating healthy as much as possible. Obama shows her commitment to living a healthy life by implementing standards and giving nutritious tips to the White House, and later on, America. " Michelle Obama remains committed to her health-and-wellness causes. In 2012, she announced a new fitness program for kids, as part of her Let's Move initiative. Along with the U.S. Olympic team and other sports organizations, she has worked to get young people to try out a new sport or activity" ("Michelle Obama." Bio). Obama puts all her time into helping others, just as she did with the fitness program. By giving children more opportunities to get outside and play, it helps give them a better and more healthy lifestyle. Michelle Obama is a very committed women who has shown this through her accomplishments. She is a committed women who is determined to make America great, and to help it become a more healthy place, and this is why she is a hero.

Michelle Obama is a hero because of her caring heart and commitment to help others in need, which is inspiring. She takes initiative to make children's lives better by trying to implement healthier diets, and more time outside exercising. "The White House garden proved to be an unexpected catalyst both for promoting dialogue on those issues and increasing Obama's interest in them. Over time, she honed in on the escalating obesity rate in children as the appropriate rallying focus. Michelle Obama is an inspiration to many because of the initiative she took into making children and the obesity percentage drop. Not only that, but she continues to help teach children that while eating right is part of a healthy life, but so is exercising. Her "Let's Move" project motivated kids all around the world to go outside and exercise, knowing that their health was increasing. Michelle has always put others before herself, and by her being the First Lady and having an immense amount of power, gave her the perfect opportunity to help children. Michelle Obama carries all the traits that a hero does, with a caring heart, commitment to her job and people, and an overall inspiring lifestyle, Obama has proven to show herself as a hero.
