Margarita Sandoval

My mom, Margarita Sandoval, is the best thing that God has ever given to me in my entire life. I may sound a little bit too exaggerated, but I don't know where I would be without my mom being there in my life. One day I told her that she was my hero, and she didn't say anything for a few minutes. "I think you chose me to be your hero because you think that just because I'm your mother, you're obligated to". You see my mom is like no other. She had made many sacrifices in order to maintain this family together. "I just think I just did my role on being a mother to you and your brothers". But she did more than that. My mom is the strongest woman I know. During the course of her life, she learned how to be independent and learned from her mistakes as well. She once told me that what kept her going through all her hardships was wanting to see us, her children, to be successful in life as a person. "Being with you guys and seeing you guys happy has made me forget about all my problems in life".

My mother has taught me so many valuable things as well. She talked to me about her struggles and obstacles she had to overcome. "The death of my first child impacted me a lot". She explained to me that the loss of a child is the worst feeling in the world. "I never imagined having to struggle and deal with your father becoming an alcoholic and his battle with his cancer as well". I guess this wasn't the life she had planned for when she was younger, I thought to myself. My mother has gone through so much and I asked her if she would ever change her life? She said, "I would never change my life because by changing my life, I would lose everything". I thought to myself what she meant by "everything", and then it hit me. Everything is us, her family. My mother is my hero because after all the things she went through, she managed to maintain our family together and love us and respect us as well. My mother is the best mom I could ask for and I'm blessed to have her in my life.
