Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia on August 26, 1910 but she felt that her birthday was August 27, 1910 because that was the day she was baptized. Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997 due to a prolonged illness. Mother Teresa is "famous" because she helped the poorest of the poor and had many orphanages built. She also built a home where she could take care of the sick and dying in Calcutta, India.

Mother Teresa spent her childhood in Skopje, Macedonia, her birthplace. Her father died when she was young and her mother raised her and her two siblings. Mother Teresa's mother and a priest guided her and influenced her. Mother Teresa was the youngest child in her family.

Mother Teresa did not go to college. When she was 18, Mother Teresa joined the Order of our Lady of Lorento in Ireland. Mother Teresa chose the name Sister Teresa in memory of Saint Therese of Lisieux. On January 6, 1929 Mother Teresa arrived in Calcutta, India and was moved by the sick and dying.
Mother Teresa opened orphanages in hundreds of locations. She founded a home for the dying. She named the home Nirmal Hrida (meaning "pure heart"). She gathered sick and dying off the streets and brought them to the home. Mother Teresa nurtured the sick and dying until they passed away.
Mother Teresa created a home for the sick and dying. She established orphanages in hundreds of places in the world. Our lives would be different if she didn't achieve her goal because we wouldn't know a true hero who expects nothing back. Mother Teresa taught others to be kind and humble, to do well and expect nothing back. Mother Teresa seems to be a role model in my life. She shows me that if you keep to your work you can do great things. I would love to be Mother Teresa because she did so many things that I can only dream of. She amazes me so much.
