Mother Teresa

by Theodore from Williamsville

Mother Teresa is a hero because she saved the poor in a small town called Calcutta. Calcutta is located northeast of India. In India, mother Teresa gave the poor a place to die in. This was instead of the poor dying along a curb of a street in Calcutta. Pope Paul VI gave her a limo and she sold it for 100,000 and bought a house for the orphans. That is where they would live and play. She also gave the poor an education.

When mother Teresa was young she was poor. The only food she had was from what her dad imported from another country, and whatever her mom grew in her backyard. Mother Teresa’s real name is Agnes Bojaxiu. When Mother Teresa was seven years old her father died of food poisoning. He was at a dinner with his co-workers to reward him with all the great work he has done. When Mother Teresa was two years old she went to the city of Skopje and helped all the poor. She gave them medicine and food along with her mother. Agnes Bojaxiu was born on August twenty-six 1910. Mother Teresa was the best student of her family. The second best was Age then Lazar.

The challenges Mother Teresa faced in her life was she gave up everything to live like the poor. This way they could not complain that she had money and they didn’t. Another challenge is that her father died. Her biggest problem was getting money for the poor. Mother Teresa had a couple of ways of getting money for the poor. One is she sold the white limo that the pope gave her. Another is the charity from the church. The church gave her money which she bought two rooms within an apartment building. One room was a school room and the other was a health care room. In the school room from 7:00am to 1:00pm the kids got taught, and from 1:00pm to 9:00pm the parents got taught. The health care room was for the kids. The parents were taught health, CPR, and other medic moves.

Mother Teresa did not want to have a job. She wanted to get married and have kids. However, God called to her and told her to become a nun and save the people in Calcutta. Every time she attended church she gave money for charity. Mother Teresa was traveling when she saw an old man dying. She helped him and guided him. Mother Theresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work with the poor. After she received the award, the pope, the president, and many other famous people were going to come to meet for lunch. However, Mother Teresa said cancel the lunch and give the money to the poor.

Mother Teresa had many great character traits. One of them is that she is very helpful because she helped the poor when they needed food and water. Also when they were dying she gave them a home to die in. Since many of the people would die she gave the orphan kids a place to live and play in. Mother Teresa also gave them a good education. Another trait is that she is very graceful because the definition is to help a person. That is exactly what she did for the poor. One more trait is that she is unselfish because she doesn’t care about herself, she cares for everyone else.

Now that you have read about Mother Teresa you learned how she helped the poor people of Calcutta. At this moment Mother Teresa is in the process of canonization. Mother Teresa will be remembered for a lifetime due to her acts of kindness and generosity.
