Malala (drawing by Hailey) |
My hero is Malala Yousafzai because she inspires me that I can speak my mind. It doesn't matter if I am 10 or 15 or 3. I can speak my mind if there is anything that I believe is wrong. My book is a autobiography and it's called I Am Malala. I Am Malala is 327 pages long. It was published on October 8th 2013. The span of time in I Am Malala is about her whole life up to 2013. 3 facts about Malala are She was the youngest Nobel Peace Prize, she fought for girls education ever since she was 11 and finally she was awarded over half a million dollars!

Malala grew up in Swat Valley which is in Pakistan. Her Parents names are Tor Pekai Yousafzai and Ziauddin Yousafzai. Her siblings are Atal Yousafzai and Khushal Yousafzai. Malala's schools she went to are called Khushal Public School & Edgbaston High School. When Tor Pekai, Malala's mother, was a child she unfortunately didn't get much of an education. In fact, she didn't even get through one term before dropping out of school at the age of 6! As for Ziauddin Yousafzai, he got a education. He has five sisters and his sisters didn't get an education. He wanted Malala to go to school. But he wasn't the only father who sent his daughter to school. What Malala was interested in was Physics. In school and out of school, she loved it. A interesting story about Malala was why she became a hero. She was taking a bus home, and a man who didn't really look like a soldier came and said "Is this the bus for Khushal School?" Malala's bus driver did the proper thing and said yes. The mysterious man said, "Well, I need information on some of the students. Who is Malala?" No one said anything but students looked at Malala. The man pulled out a gun and shot at some girls. Malala was one of them. She was shot in the side of the head. She was rushed to a Pakistan hospital unconscious. Malala was inspired by her father. Her dad believed that girls and women should be included like men are in Pakistan. So did Malala. Her dream was that she could change the world. Malala wanted to be a doctor or prime minister. She had a very foreshadowing past that changed her into the future. The main thing that foreshadowed her life is when Malala was shot in the head. She would have never became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner for fighting for women's education. I Am Malala was published on 237 Park Avenue, New York, United States of America.
Malala has overcome many challenges in her life. The main problem was her not getting a education and her getting shot in the head. How she overcame her challenges were she spoke her mind. How she overcame these challenges was she was rushed to a Pakistan hospital to have surgery. She fortunately survived the surgery and she moved to England for safety. She is still living today and is living a safe life in her new home. How she overcame her education problem was she spoke her mind and stood up to the Taliban. What contributed Malala to stand up for education was her dad opened a school called Khushal Middle School which was Malala's school. So she thought she could do something that involved education. Malala has had a human weakness about stealing. When she was a little girl she had no money so she has had many temptations of stealing. Once she saw a man with a cart of almonds and they looked so tasty that when Malala walked by she snuck a handful of almonds. She got caught and promised to never do it again or to lie again. Malala had many funny and many sad moments in her lifetime. When she laughed with her friends, that was funny for her.. Sad things that happened with Malala was when she got shot. Malala has had many accomplishments in her life. When she got shot and survived is one, being the youngest to win a nobel peace prize is another.
Something that disappointed me about Malala is when she was little she stole. I could never imagine a hero like Malala would steal. She even stole a phone! I know she was poor but that doesn't mean that she can steal. Something that surprised me was that she survived the shooting. What pleased me about Malala was that she came clean about stealing the almonds. Also the phone. She didn't tell a lie to her parents. She said that she did it and she never would do it again. If I was able to meet Malala the three questions I would ask her would be, do you have a hero other than your dad? Is there any place that you would want to move to? Do you find that you survived the shooting lucky? Or were the doctors just really good. I wouldn't want to be Malala's child because I wouldn't have the life that I'm in with my friends and family. I would miss that. I really enjoyed I Am Malala because I really enjoyed learning about Malala and how she changed the world. She is a real inspiration to so many people around the world. I didn't know that she stole! Something I learned from this book is that I can tell anyone what I think is right. What an experience that Malala had that I could apply to my life is that I could change the world if I put my mind to it. I think others will like I Am Malala because this book doesn't just teach you about Malala, it also teaches you many life lessons that Malala has learned from. I'm very happy that I chose Malala because she just makes me so inspired that I can change the world. After reading I am Malala I will look up to Malala as a role model because she has taught me many things and if you read I Am Malala, maybe you can consider her a hero too.
