“I can except failure. But I cannot except not trying.” - Michael Jordan

In my eyes, Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time, and there are many others who would agree with me, even if they do not like him. Not many people have even come close to Jordan’s achievements and few ever will. He has been a major part of basketball’s history, and his legacy will last forever. He went to the University of North Carolina and won the National Championship with them in 1982; that was the first time he was noticed and received attention from NBA scouts.

Michael Jordan's achievements on the court can be matched only by his commitment to children and family causes. He's involved with many charities including the Boys & Girls Club of America, UNCF/College Fund, Special Olympics and a variety of charitable organizations that support children and families. Protecting children and providing a healthy life style are still among his many goals.

In 1984, the Chicago Bulls drafted Michael to the NBA. He was picked in the first round, and was the third pick. He won various awards in his career. In 1985, he was named Rookie of the Year, and in 1991, he won his first national title with The Bulls. In the following year, he won a gold medal in the Barcelona Olympics. During the off-season that year, he returned to UNC for his degree in arts.

Unfortunately, the next year, there was a very tragic event. Michael Jordan’s father was murdered. This life-changing event led to Michael Jordan’s retirement. He stuck with this decision for two years until 1995 during the middle of the season. Then in 1996, he starred in the movie “Space Jam”. This by itself shows that he is a hero. It shows that he persevered and came back from a hard time.

Michael also won a few more championships in his career. In 1996, his team won a fourth championship with Chicago, and in the following year he won his fifth NBA championship. He won a total of six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, and four NBA finals MVP trophies. Michael Jordan played 13 seasons with the Bulls. During that time period, he won 14 MVP awards, 11 scoring championships, and two slam-dunk championships. When he played for the Bulls, his primary position was shooting guard.

Michael Jeffery Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn New York. He is 6’6, and weighs two hundred and fifteen pounds. His shoe size is a 13, and his favorite movie is the Matrix. Everybody knows that he is good at basketball, but few people know that he cannot swim or skate. While playing in the NBA, he played for two teams. He played for the Chicago Bulls, and the Washington Wizards, and his jersey numbers were 23, 45, and 9. During his career, he scored 32,292 points, had 6,672 rebounds, and 5633 career assists. This proves that he works hard, and is very good at basketball.
