My hero is Michael Jordan. He is a famous basketball athlete with numerous awards. He played from 1984 to 1998 on the Chicago Bulls and from 2001 to 2003 on the Washington Wizards. Michael was the first basketball athlete to have his or her own line of shoes. I find this very interesting. As a child, Michael had 2 older brothers, 2 older sisters, and one younger sister. When he was a child, he mostly played baseball and had basketball and football on the side. He got interested in basketball when his brother Larry, beat him every day on one-on-one games. As he faced his brother, Michael became a better basketball player. He tried out for his high school varsity team. Jordan did not make the varsity team in basketball as a sophomore. Instead of giving up, he had perseverance and tried again. He got offered a college scholarship after he made the team as a junior and that scholarship led us to his legacy today. He is still alive today and lives in Illinois. Michael Jordan has won some honoring awards such as "Greatest Players in NBA History" in 1996; and "Two-time Olympic gold medalist" in 1984, and 1992. Michael retired from the NBA in the year 2003.

Honestly, the reason I picked Michael Jordan was because everyone talks about him in such amazement. I wondered why he was so popular, so to clarify my questions, I did this project. After researching about him, I learned some amazing things about him. Like him, family competition has helped me do better in sports. My father and brother play soccer with me and I improve every time we play. This soccer season, my team won 1st place in the tournament. I tried out for the basketball team this year, but sadly, I did not make the team. I will keep on practicing my basketball skills and someday become like Michael Jordan. Michael has taught me some important life lessons. He taught me to keep on trying hard no matter how frustrating the situation is. In life, there will be some obstacles, but we need to learn how to benefit from the failures those obstacles give us.

All and all, Michael Jordan is truly an amazing person. I am glad I picked him as my hero because he has countless achievements to match his failures. He taught me some valuable life lessons like having perseverance. He had an interest in basketball when his brother destroyed him in a one-on-one game. He faced some struggles to become a "good" basketball player but ultimately succeeded in the end leaving us his rich legacy. I will use these life lesson in athletics and in life. So, ultimately I did not do this project for just a grade.
