Michael Oher inspired many people, including me, in numerous ways. He defeated many temptations that threatened harm to him, such as peer pressures including drugs and a life of crime. Although never being enrolled in school, he attended a private school with no diversity and achieved par grades and phenomenal sport ability. Then, he played on a full-ride scholarship to Ole Miss. With the generous and nurturing nature of the Tuohy family, he has traveled far in his life. Life for him so far has been a national success story for many reasons.

Michael Oher is my hero because of the great accomplishments throughout his current life. If there was a single word to describe Michael Oher according to his physical appearance, it certainly would be gargantuan. Some other features are that he is African American, tall, brawny, black hair, dark brown eyes, and very bulky. Michael Oher resides in Baltimore, MD, playing for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Originally, he is from west Memphis, brought over to east Memphis, the ritzy side of town, by Leanne Tuohy. Due to the whole Tuohy family effort, Michael Oher was raised not only with life’s necessities, but life’s riches too.

Michael Oher made a difference in several ways outside of his sports. With all of the peer pressures around him on the deprieved side, such as gangs, drugs, violence, etc., Michael Oher would have none of it. He also swore not to live the life of his mother full of drugs, evictions, and pregnancies. Also, Michael Oher never spent one day in school, which makes passing high school, much less a private school, almost an unfeasable undertaking. But that is not all, he was also a student athlete, he was basically born to participate in almost all sports with a ball. For him, teamwork was an easier said than done challenge because he was very timid, but aggressive, when necessary. That is just what he did, too. A tutor was considered neccessary, but he still completed the job almost every time.

Michael Oher and his many achievements imotivated me in many ways never thought promissing. First off, how many people do you know whose mother is a drug addict, no father, many siblings, and still does something utterly breathtaking like he has? Therefore, he has not only inspired me, but many other people nationwide. Furthermore, Michael Oher has attained typical grades in school for the first time in his life. That is an incredible achievement academically. I have gotten good grades throughout my life, but fact of the matter is that Michael Oher did it without an extra ten or eleven years under his belt. Finally, he obtained a full-ride scholarship to Ole Miss while balancing his grades as a stellar athlete and student simultaneously. Overcoming all of these factors, he is still very successful. Those are only a few examples on the extensive list of dilemmas and peer pressures that he overcame.

In numerous ways, Michael Oher reached out to many people and inspired them to great feats no matter where they come from. Overcoming many things, he is currently living a healthy and successful life, considering he was born in the hood with little love in his life. Denying peer pressures is the most significant decision he made. He may very well be in the slammer if he would have caved in to them, too. His loving, defensive, and caring nature kept him from being a big time ego NFL player like some others. That is why Michael Oher is inspiring to countless people around the country.
