For my fictional hero I choose Marlin from the movie Finding Nemo. Marlin is a clownfish who loses his son, Nemo. Marlin’s wife and all of their baby eggs were eaten by a big, mean Barracuda and Nemo was the only egg left.
Since the day that Marlin lost everything, he has been a very conservative clownfish. Marlin has convinced himself that everything underneath the ocean is out to get him so he makes up all of these weird routines to do before he will leave his house. Marlin’s habits are so odd they actually resemble the symptoms of OCD. One thing that Marlin does that exhibits paranoia is that he looks out of his kelp home three or four times before he will go outside.
Marlin is very overprotective of Nemo since he is his only surviving child, and the only one left in his family. He insists that Nemo wait longer to start school and do all the precautionary routines that he does. The day that Nemo does finally start school, he and a few of his new friends decide to ditch class and go to the “drop off.” Marlin catches the kids at the drop off and he freaks out and Nemo goes off of the edge just to make his father mad. Nemo tries to make his father mad because his dad always says that he can't do stuff because of his weak fin. Nemo goes and touches the boat and when he starts swimming back to his father and friends a man that was scuba diving comes out of nowhere and captures him. When the man captures him, he takes him on his boat and the leave to Sydney Australia. Marlin tries to follow the boat but it is to fast.
Marlin stops at nothing to retrieve his son. In his journey he conquers almost all of his fears. Marlin talks to sharks and he even goes on the Eastern Australian Current (EAC). Merlin also makes a friend on his long journey to Sidney, Australia. Dory is a confused fish that saw the boat, so she tries to help Marlin but he just gets frustrated with her because she has short-term memory loss. In the end Dory and Marlin become the best of friends. Marlin finally reaches Nemo and they are so happy to just see each other, they just completely forget all of their differences.
I think that it takes a strong person with a great character to be able to look through what happened in the past. I know how hard it is just to look past something that someone who has hurt or bothered you.
