A pianist who performed with the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh symphonies as a soloist, she is perhaps best know as an inventor. Hallock-Greenewalt invented a type of visual music she called Nourathar. Developing and designing her "color organ" required her invention of new technologies for which she was awarded 9 patents.
“Broadly, it is my desire to express emotions by means of timed variations of light and color in a manner analogous to that employed in the art of music. Such expression may either be for its own sake, or … as an accompaniment.â€
