Jason McCartney was born on the 3rd of September 1973 and is considered a hero because he saved many people in the Bali bombings. Jason didn't think of saving people so that he would be considered a hero.
At the time of the explosion Jason was in Paddy's Bar where the bomb erupted. Jason managed to escape. After he got out and knew what it felt like to be inside, Jason went back inside and saved a few people.

Jason is also considered a hero as he kicked the winning goal at the MCG when he was playing his last Australian Rules football game with the North Melbourne Kangaroos.
Jason is a person who is humble and brave and doesnt do things for money. Jason is kind, loving and caring and is a big risk taker.
So that's why we consider Jason McCartney to be a hero as he saved lives in the Bali bombings and kicked the winning goal at the MCG for the North Melbourne Kangaroos football team when he was playing his last game.
