Randy Moss is my all time favorite sports hero. He is my hero because he is a very talented wide receiver. In my book he is the number 1 wide receiver since he was drafted. He was drafted in 1998 by the Minnesota Vikings. “Moss was projected as a high first-round pick in the 1998 draft because of his freakish ability.” He caught 17 touch downs his rookie year and he tied that record again in 2003. Randy was a pro bowl player his first year and was the leading cause why the Vikings went 15-1. “In 2003 Moss became the first wide receiver in history to play more than 12 games (he played 16) while averaging over 100 yards and one touchdown per contest. He finished with 111 receptions for 1632 yards and 17 touchdowns.” So far in his career he has 98 touch downs and over 10,000 yards. I hope, this number will grow tremendously.
Randy Moss and Daunte Culpepper were a dynamite combination. They understood each other very well. Daunte even made a rule called the 1/3 rule for Randy. Randy was to receive a pass once every 3 attempts. This made Moss's numbers go sky high. After the Vikings traded away Randy to the Raiders and Daunte to the Dolphins Randy got injured. Even with injury in 2005 Randy got 8 touch downs and 1005 yards. This year, however, he hasn’t been playing so hot. This isn’t his fault though; it’s the whole Raiders team! First off the Raiders have a terrible quarter back named Aaron Brooks. He gets sacked way too many times and has no arm. This is mostly his fault but the Raiders offensive line as well. The Raiders terrible offensive line limits their rushing attack. They have a half way decent running back named LaMont Jordan but with no offensive line this leaves him no where to go. Since it takes less people to crash the center to get to Brooks or LaMont, this leaves more people to stay on Randy. Sometimes Randy is triple teamed but mostly double teamed. Randy is all the Raiders have for offense and I fear that if Randy doesn’t get out of Oakland his career stats aren’t going to be as good as they should.
With the talent Randy has if he had a somewhat good team he could be a HUGE asset to have and be a future Hall of Fame WR.
