Mufasa and Simba

Mufasa was a great hero even if you think he wasn't. He first appeared in the 1994 classic Disney movie, The Lion King. Mufasa's mate is Sarabi and his son is Simba. Mufasa and his family live at Pride Rock, where Mufasa reigns as king over the land. He lives by the circle of life. His Brother Scar also lives at Pride Rock and is very jealous of his brother.

Mufasa lives his life trying to teach Simba lessons about the Pride land, and about who Simba really is. Mufasa's biggest struggle is trying to teach Simba and keep him out of trouble. Twice, Mufasa saves Simba. The first time Mufasa saves Simba and Nala from the hyenas and the second time he saves Simba is from the stampede. Mufasa is killed by Scar at the second rescue. Scar then uses the Hyenas to take over the land. Mufasa's biggest accomplishment is being King over the land, until he died helping his son get the land back from Scar.

Mufasa is a hero because he saves his son from danger twice. Once from the Hyenas and the other time he saves Simba from the stampede. Both incidents were planned out by Scar to kill either Mufasa or Simaba. Mufasa was a wise king. He knew a lot about the land and about the animals in it. He teaches his son Simaba about the land and how he should rule when he is king. Mufasa is also a fair ruler because he follows the ways of the circle of life. Mufasa is also very kind and generous. He gives a lot to the Pride Rock land and animals. When the stampede happened, and seeing that Simba was in trouble again, he jumps in to save him. He saves Simba but soon after that Scar kills him by letting him fall off of the ridge. Scar then takes over because Simba runs away thinking it was his fault his father died. Mufasa's date of death is unknown.

Later on in the movie after Simaba has grown up, Rafiki (Mufasa's mentor) comes and finds Simba to show him something. Simba follows Rafiki to a water hole. Here is where Mufasa teaches his son who he really is. The following is a quote from the movie.

[Simba looks into a pool of water]
Adult Simba: That's not my father, that's just my reflection.
Rafiki: No, look harder.
[Simba's reflection changes to that of his father]
Rafiki: You see? He lives in you.
Mufasa's ghost: Simba.
Adult Simba: Father?
Mufasa's ghost: Simba, you have forgotten me.
Adult Simba: No. How could I?
Mufasa's ghost: You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.
Adult Simba: How can I go back? I'm not who I used to be.
Mufasa's ghost: Remember who you are. You are my son and the one true king. Remember..

In this movie you learn the lesson that you need to remember your past family members and remember who you really are inside and take your own place in life.
