Neil Armstrong

by Triston from Yucaipa

My hero is Neil Alden Armstrong. Neil Alden Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930. He is a former American astronaut. He also was a test pilot. His very first spaceflight was aboard the Gemini 8 in 1966. On July 20, 1969, Armstrong's last flight was Apollo 11. That was when he was pronounced the first man to set foot on the moon. I believe that Neil Armstrong should be considered a hero because he was the first man on the moon.

The first reason I think that Neil Armstrong is a hero, is because he was the first man to set foot on the moon. I think that being the first man on the moon is amazing. Before he set foot on the moon, he was on the ladder and said "One step for man, and one leap for man kind." What a great statement to make, and have the whole world remember those words. That is the first reason that I think Neil Armstrong is a hero.

The second reason I feel that he is a hero, is because he was a test pilot. That means that he tested all different types of air crafts to make sure they were safe. If he wasn't there to test these air crafts, they could have gotten past with major or minor problems. That could have been a major problem. I think that in many ways he saved lives. That's the second reason that Neil Armstrong is my hero.

The third reason I feel that Neil Armstrong is a hero, is because he was a professor at a University. He spent many years educating people. That is a very important job in the world, to teach people and help them learn. I think that is a difficult job to do, because you have to be able to know how to teach all different personalities. That's the third reason that Neil Armstrong is my hero.

These are the reasons that I think Neil Armstrong is my hero. He did lots of things that make him a hero, that I can't even imagine doing in my life time. Just one of those jobs would be so hard for me to do, I can't even think about doing those three. He spent his life doing incredible things for others. He will always be someone that I remember through out my life, and think of as a hero.
