My hero travels around India saving lives through food. He finds those who are starving to death and he hand feeds them and gives them a haircut. He donated his entire life savings and the money he gets for the rent on his house to help his cause.

Every day he covers 125 miles on the road, feeding people in 100 degree heat. To do this he has to get up at 4:00a.m. He feeds around 400 people per day with nice hot hand-cooked meals.

He decided to quit his job to help people when he was a 5 STAR COOK and headed to a very well paying job in Switzerland.

He has served more than 1,200,000 meals to people around India. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding, they have had to halt construction on their dormitory for the homeless people.

My hero uses his own time and his own saved money for his nonprofit Akshaya Trust, which was started in 2003. This hero first started this when he was having a quick family visit. He had saw an old man under a bridge near a temple, eating his own human waste for food. This shocking image had led him to help people like him. He would decide this for the rest of his life. He would feed them free hot meals he would make, give his customers a haircut, and even did this himself with his volunteers. He helps near temples in Madurai, his residence, birthplace, and hometown.
