I believe in a God that can do all things, but if he chooses not to give me arms and legs, I know it’s for the better. And I may not understand it, but all I need to know is that He is going to carry me through, that there is a purpose for it” says Nick Vujicic, a Christian man born without any limbs due to a disease called Tetra-Amelia, or as he considers it, his blessing from God himself. Nick Vujicic was born in Brisbane, Australia on December 4, 1982. When he was born, it brought great worry to his parents. His mother was a nurse, so during pregnancy she’d followed every rule to pregnancy and yet still blamed herself for his deformity at the time. At the moment he was born, his father was so disgusted by his appearance he left the room quickly to vomit only then to return to the room with his wife and highly disabled son, Nick.

Nick had a rough childhood. “Due to his disability and laws where he grew up in Australia, he was not allowed to enter mainstream school until later, becoming one of the first disabled children to be integrated into the program.” In his early years, Nick faced the troubles of depression, teasing, TONS of internal questions as to why he was so different from everyone else, and resulting from all that, many attempts of suicide which he started when he was 8 years old, throwing himself over a staircase in attempt to break his own neck. Nick eventually found himself though his struggles, his ways began greatly inspiring numbers of people around him, getting him to the realization and leading him to thank God for ever giving him his life.

“After school, Nick obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Financial Planning. He then started practicing motivational speaking which was his dream to be able to encourage other people in a religious and moving way. ‘I found the purpose of my existence, and also the purpose of my circumstance. There’s a purpose for why you’re in the fire.’ Nick believes that there is a reason in every struggle we encounter, and that our attitude along with our faith can be the keys to overcoming the challenges we face.” We all have some sort of flaw that stops us from going further in life because we think it’s dragging us down when it can actually do the opposite. Nick is a great example of someone with the courage to reveal themselves to the public, risking the first impression of a “freak” or any other nickname anyone might call another person with some sort of disability. He risked it and inspires many to follow in his footsteps.

Through all his inspirational speeches and amazing attitude towards life, Nick is a largely eye-opening person to all his fans. “Nick, you are amazing. You have inspired me to move above and beyond my comfort zone. You never know when God will send you a light or how he will send it. Every time someone listens to one of Nick’s speeches, they get a firsthand experience at what he goes through in life and how he listens to it simply by his optimism and the power of his words. Nick never stops inspiring people, religious or not.

Throughout his life, Nick has been traveling all over the world, giving speech after speech, interview after interview, and helping those in need, all together helping people in life and showing them they CAN put themselves out there and do just as he does! Anyone can! It must have been hard for Nick to show himself out in public in front of thousands-millions of eyes at first, but knowing Nick’s strong, bold faith in God, he got up on that stage and delivered heartwarming speeches with an eye-opening story of how we can all do just as he does, him being the unforgettable example of a truly God blessed person.

All in all, Nick, from beginning to now was, is, and always will be that faithful, eye-opening man full of the courage to step up in front of others and show us life at a completely different perspective than we’re used to. From surprising his parents at first sight to not being allowed to attend school until a certain age bringing him the worst stages of his life so far to now, huge, much respected inspirational speaker traveling all over for others, it was all planned as God’s plan to build up such an amazing man who only wants to sacrifice his time to be the person he was born to be. This to me is an amazing hero.
