"I don't believe I'm disabled. Yes, I have no arms and no legs but big deal. Doesn't matter how I look. It's who I am, and what I do" (Nick Vujicic). To be able to live a happy life one doesn't have to be 'normal'. Nick Vujicic is a 32 years old man born without arms and legs - a condition called Tetra-Amelia. Nick lived in Melbourne, Australia most of his life with the support of his parents. In elementary school, Nick suffered from depression, low self-esteem, and still has strength to carry on. Nick attended Griffith University and graduated at the age of 21. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, and a double major in accountancy and financial planning. After college he became a motivational speaker telling his story to the world. He also found his soul mate, Kanae Miyahara. Nick and Kanae are now married, and are raising a twenty-month old son Kiyoshi. Nick travels all around the world, going to different schools to talk about his life. He recently moved to Los Angeles, California where he, Kanae, and their son now live. Nick possesses perseverance, or doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success, and passion, or having, compelled by, or ruled by intense emotion or strong feeling. Nick Vujicic demonstrates a hero because he was bullied for having no arms and legs, he showed perseverance and passion by using his weaknesses to become stronger, still inspiring others along the way.

The spark of perseverance Nick possesses doesn't let him give up; therefore giving him the strength to fight. Nick could have ended his own life; nonetheless he fought back by helping others become stronger: "Then I found myself in front of three hundred sophomore (grade 10) students and I was nervous. My knees were shaking." (Vujicic). "Her (the student) gratitude inspired me to go across 44 countries and speak 2,000 times. I realized that we all need love and hope and that I was in a unique position to share that with people around the world." (Vujicic). Vujicic faced fears of being in front of people; on top of that he didn't let anyone stop him telling his story to the world. Nick wants to help people across the country understand that there is more to life. He wants people to know that life isn't just the negatives, but with hard work the positives can be reached. By talking to millions of people he has learned a few things himself. He has learned that his life isn't the worst it could be, that others need support and someone that beliefs in their success. To this day he has traveled all over the world talking at many different schools, to all the students, and receiving many different emotions from different ages. In school Nick suffered from bullying, depression, and low self-esteem, in spite of that he eventually adapted ways to accomplish basic everyday tasks: "Nick is an amazing example of someone who overcomes the challenges of bullying and become even stronger" (Motivational Speaker And Author). In other words, Nick expose perseverance in him. He was bullied, and he felt like he was stripped down from his powers. In spite of that Nick adapted many ways of doing basic tasks, such as dressing himself by wiggling the clothes on. He uses his pain to become stronger. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" (Clarkson). To be able to live and enjoy life, one needs to forget about all the negative, and bring closer the positive.

Bullied all through his early ages, Nick Vujicic doesn't let that break him, despite that he uses it to become more passionate. Nick shares his story forgetting that he is 'different' and believes he is 'normal' like everyone else: "In school, he was teased by his schoolmates, suffered depression, loneliness, and poor self-esteem... At age nineteen he began traveling around the world giving motivational talks, speaking about his disability, and sharing his faith in God. He talks to a variety of groups of people - teachers, youth, business people, entrepreneurs, and church congregations." (Vujicic). People bullied Nick hoping he would go crazy, and end his life. Instead he used his weaknesses to become passionate and help others do the same. He uses his passion to help others realize that the greatest disability is in your mind. The choices that one makes will affect them their entire life. They can make a choice of giving up or getting up and moving on. There is no greater disability than making the choice to give up, and once one gives up there is no hope left. Nick's passion is to encourage people to be all they can. Not to be afraid of failing but to learn from the mistakes. Being bullied has taught Nick that his life is more than words say: "Having personally experienced all types of bullying for being 'different,' I know what it feels like to be picked on and pushed around, so this cause is important to me" (Vujicic). People describe Nick as a 'different', yet he still carries the strength and courage to take a stand, and helps people all around the world become stronger and have more courage. He has been through the hard times, and has learned to realize that his life is only getting harder. In addition to life getting harder, only Nick can make it easier for himself. Only he can forget the negative people and hold onto hope.

Nick has proven to be a perceiving and a passionate man by using his own weaknesses to become stronger. Nick was born without arms and legs and survives with the help of his loved ones. He suffered depression and low self-esteem. He hasn't let that stop him from accomplishing goals. Nick has a huge effect to many people, and ha inspired them along the way: "He is confident, engaging, and inspiring, and is making a difference in the lives of millions of people." (Motivational Speaker And Author). Nick inspires many people all around the world. To me, he's an inspiration because he has suffered a lot, and still shows his strong confidence and high self-esteem. He taught me to make the choice of getting up and moving on. He also has taught me to hold onto hope no matter what. Nick's speech makes me realize I have to fight for what I dream for. Not let words run my life. Only I can accomplish my dreams. "There are going to be lots of hard times in your life, but those hard times only make you stronger in the end" (Dodd).
