What makes a person a hero? A hero is never selfish and always gives his time to help people in any way. A hero can also be brave, have selflessness, be able to persevere and endure things, be dedicated, have determination, and be able to sacrifice himself. A hero does not always have to have all these characteristics that were listed, yet the hero could even have different characteristics than the ones listed, based on the person's point of view. In my perspective, Nick Vujicic, who has Tetra-amelia syndrome, is a hero because he is very persevering, he is not selfish, he spends his time with people preaching to them about God, he is dedicated to God, and determined to help others and show others that he can do great things with his disability.

In Brisbane, Australia, on December 4th, 1982, a nurse, whose name was Dushka Vujicic, gave birth to a limbless son, whom they named Nicholas Vujicic. Nick's parents, Dushka and Boris Vujicic, were both shocked to see their limbless son with a foot with two toes on it. His parents pondered about how Nick's life would be like as he grew up. Even with this great disability, Nick's parents supported him all the way. During his childhood, Nick was always questioning his parents why he was so different from the other kids. Not only did he face these questions running through his mind, he also faced so many difficulties at school such as being bullied for how he looked and self-esteem issues, and he also went through depression and loneliness. Even though he faced these difficulties, he persevered and endured all the pain he had received.

When Nick was older, he had learned that to not be angry at God for what he does not have, but to be grateful for what he does have. He then obtained a double Bachelor's degree in financial planning. At age 19, Nick began his dream of being able to share his testimony on how God changed his life and bring people the gospel of Jesus. He was determined and dedicated to share the testimony of God and to share his life story. He wanted people to hear his struggles and how God helped him through them. He read the Bible and wanted to spread the word of God, and he became very dedicated to God for what he had.

Now, Nick has been around the world sacrificing his time to tell millions of people his story. Nick adapted with his disability and he can comb his hair, play soccer, brush his teeth, and do many other everyday things. He is the president of his non-profit organization, which is called Life Without Limbs. He still travels around the world to meet new faces and tell his life story. He still dedicates his life to God, and he still amazes others on what he has accomplished without any limbs.
