My hero is Nicholas James Vujicic (also known as Nick). He is a motivational speaker and director of the LIFE WITHOUT LIMBS organization. Although Nick doesn't have arms or legs, he overcame his disability by proving that his disability is not a limit for his life. Nick was born in Brisbane, Australia. When he was born their parents were really sad and upset for Nick's condition, but otherwise Nick was healthy. He grew up being bullied at school; he was so depressed that he started to contemplate suicide at a young age. When he was 10 he tried to drown himself but he failed. Suddenly Nick started to realize that other people lived in the same condition as him and also in worse condition. He started to think that he was really lucky for being alive and to have what he had. He began to feel special and to appreciate his life. Nick actually lives in California, USA.

He is director of the LIFE WITHOUT LIMBS organization and he also travels around the world, motivating people to overcome their adversities. He makes a lot of conferences to prove to people that they don't have limits and that everything is possible. Nick makes television shows and he writes. His first book "Life Without Limits" was published in the 2010. In the 2005 Nick was nominated for the "Young Australian of the Year" award. He appeared in a short documentary, filmed in the 2005, called "Life's Greater Purpose", which shows his home life and regular activities. Nick also appeared in a short film called "The Butterfly Circus" which won the "Doorpost Film Project's" top prize in 2009, and the "Best Short Film" award. Nick was also awarded "Best Actor" in a short film.

A lot of people question themselves how Nick can move around, eat, and how he lives a normal day. Nick does it all by himself. Firstly Nick has a house that is conditioned for his needs. He has a low bed, so he can get on it. He dresses himself using his mouth and his entire body. Nick lives in a two-story house, he actually can go upstairs and downstairs. Nick makes his own breakfast. He develop his two toes (Nick has a little foot with two toes on it) to move them the way he wants. He has a special wheelchair that he can control with his toes. He can also type 42 words per minute in the computer. And Nick can walk around without help, he moves his entire body to do it. He also likes to play sports, he can swim, do skateboarding, surf and more.

A lot of people question themselves how Nick feels about his disability. Nick had had a very difficult life and has gone through very difficult circumstances, he tried to kill himself once, but Nick accepts his disability. He sometimes makes fun of himself showing tricks he had learned to do with his body. Nick lives happy and proud of himself. He enjoys life and he tries to live to the fullest.

I think Nick is my hero because he has been an inspiration for me. He taught me that people don't have limits and you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it and if you fight for it. Also I think that he is an incredible person. He cares for himself and he doesn't need help. He can swim, surf, do skateboarding and more... I admire him because he lives happy and enjoys life. And the fact that he doesn't have limbs doesn't prevent him to be happy and to grow more as a person. And the thing I most admire about him is that he accepted his disability and he doesn't worry about it anymore - instead he is focused on the things that he can change to have a good life.
