My hero is Natalie Darwitz because she is a person who always strives to do her best. Natalie was born on October 13, 1983 in Eagan Minnesota. She was born as the youngest of her family. She has an older brother and an older sister. Her dad owned an ice rink so she grew up being at the rink most of the time. Natalie started skating at the age of three or four. Natalie has always wanted to play ice hockey, so at the age of five, Natalie started to play ice hockey. She has played many other sports but she always loved ice hockey best.
Natalie's position is center, wing. She is a right hander and she played at the University of Minnesota during the years of 2002 though 2005. Natalie has been on the United States National Team during the years of 1998 and 1999. Now, she is currently the coach for the United State's Captain for the Women's National Team.

Natalie has won many awards for ice hockey. In 2002, Natalie won a silver medal in the Olympics. In 2006, she earned a bronze medal in the Olympics. Natalie is also a three time World Champion gold medalist and a five time World Champion silver medalist. Natalie has many more accomplishments such as winning the Best Forward in the World Award and the Bob Johnson Award. Natalie was also the League MVP and was awarded the Bob Allen Women's Player of the Year Award. Needless to say, Natalie is one of the greatest female hockey players in the world.
Natalie loves ice hockey and it is her passion. Even though Natalie's mom thought that ice hockey wasn't for girls and her dad thought that she was better in softball, Natalie still was passionate for ice hockey. Natalie always put in the extra effort to do her best. She was determined to follow her dream of ice hockey. Natalie played ice hockey for herself. She didn't do it because her parents told her to. Natalie said that children should play for themselves. They have to have fun. Children shouldn't be playing a sport because their parents are forcing them to. That's how Natalie became a great ice hockey player. She played because she wanted to play ice hockey.

Natalie tries her best to do what she has to do. Natalie never gives up. She knows what her passion is and goes for whatever goals she has. Natalie shoots for the best and isn't discouraged when she didn't get exactly what she wanted. She always tries to do her very best. That is why I chose Natalie to be my hero. She knows what to do and does everything she has to do to reach her goal.
