I'm writing about my idol, Nastia Liukin because she is an amazing gymnast that inspires me to do better and strive for my personal goals. She is what helps me continue gymnastics... gymnastics is a large part of my life and hopefully my future.

Nastia Liukin was born on October 30, 1989 in her hometown, Moscow, Russia. Her full name is Anastasia Valeryevna Liukin. Both her mother Anna, and father Valeri excelled in their own sports. Her mother was the great Anna Kotchneva who was a major Rhythmic Gymnast and repeatedly won the national title and Olympic gold medals. Nastia's father was also a world renowned gymnast. He won multiple titles in different competitions and he won a couple gold medals from the Olympics. He was also rewarded for being the first man to ever perform a triple back tuck.

Nastia began her career as a gymnast when she was only three years old. She was always hanging around the gym when her parents were coaching, her parents couldn't afford any daycare for her. Both of her parents coached her until she was twelve years old and was given a spot on the junior national Olympic team. By the time she was thirteen, she was considered a world champion for her repeated wins on the beam, floor, and bars. Nastia would carry on this feat even later into her career as a senior-Olympic gymnast.

Nastia Liukin inspires me to be a better gymnast because even at a young age, Nastia was not afraid to persevere in the challenging sport. Even though she did not know anything about her new "Home-To-Be" she still broke the language barrier and excelled in her sport. She inspires me to always try to be better and never stop trying. At my age, there aren't a lot of guys that are involved in the sport, she always makes me want to push myself harder to complete whatever task I am given. I would like to meet some of her goals, and then some of my personal goals that I have set for myself.

Nastia Liukin will always be some of my personal inspiration to never stop trying in the awesome sport of gymnastics. Her success will always push me to do better and move ahead in life. Not only has she helped me to push myself, but she has also helped me realize where I would like to take gymnastics when I grow older.
