My hero is someone that is famous in the world and a lot of people know him as Nelly but he was born as Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. There are a lot of reasons why I chose Nelly for my hero. He was born on November 2, 1974 in Austin Texas. He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been active in music since 1995 to the present day. He is now at the age of 33.

I chose Nelly because I like his type of genre. His genre is Rap/Hip-Hop, Pop Rap and R&B. I love R&B because you can set there and just relax and enjoy the music. Then Rap is the party type music. Then the Pop Rap, I really don’t know about and I really don’t know what it sounds like. He is one of the best-selling rappers of all time, with over forty million albums sold worldwide.

Another reason why I like and love Nelly is because of his heart. He is a very caring person and a very loving person to his family, friends and fans. He has a big heart and I know this because of one story. His sister Jacqueline “Jackie” Donahue was diagnosed with leukemia in the year of 2001. Nelly and Jackie started the Jus 4 Us campaign, a search for a bone marrow transplant. But unfortunately the search was not successful for Jackie. She died on March 24, 2005 due to complications from leukemia at the age of 31. Although they couldn’t find a donor for Jackie they were able to find some for two other kids for their home town, St. Louis. Nelly has continued charity work related to this illness in his loving sisters memory. Nelly has two children, a daughter named Chanell Haynes that was born on February 27, 1994 and a son named Cornell Haynes III. They have such pretty names.

I think he is a very good role model for these young kids out in the world today. He is setting an example that you don’t have to curse in your music or talk bad about females in you music just to become famous. He may talk about sexual things in his music but at least he's not degrading them like some of the rest of these artists do. They are calling us out of our names and talking just right nasty to or about us. So that is why I think Nelly is a very great HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
