Owen Wilson

Have you ever known about anyone that has overcome a suicide attempt? Well I know about one person, Owen Wilson. He’s a person that doesn’t give up, goes for what he wants, and he helps many people. Owen was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 18, 1968. While living in Dallas he went to Lamplighter School, and St. Mark's School of Texas. But later on he got expelled for stealing a teacher's textbook to help him with his homework.

He never gives up. When he attempted suicide, he survived it. On August 26, 2007, he attempted to kill himself. He was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and he stayed there for about a week. The reason he tried to kill himself is because most of his life he had been fighting depression and addiction to heroin. Months before that, his depression got worse because Kate Hudson broke up with him. But after the attempt to kill himself, he got back on his feet and got over his depression. To keep himself busy, he made movies such as Little Fockers and Cars 2.

He goes for what he wants. When he went to Texas University, Owen knew he wanted to be a writer. He wrote a comedy called A Night in Tunisia. In 1993 he co-wrote Bottle Rocket. It involved Owen and his brother acting in it. This is how his acting career started. His first major movie was called Armageddon. After starring in Armageddon he knew he wanted to continue with this and make a lot of movies. He has acted in over thirty movies.

He helps many people. He helps many people by Owen donating money to the STILLERSTRONG campaign. Ben Stiller owns the campaign. The campaign is for the kids in Haiti that can’t afford or manage to get back into school due to the earthquake and numerous shocks that came afterward. Owen also donated money to the government for the Haiti National Palace because it collapsed during one shock that came after the earthquake.

I have learned a lot about Owen Wilson. He’s taught me that if I want something and work hard for it, I can accomplish it. His life so far has shown him to be a person who strives for what he wants, a person that helps others, and a person who lives life with courage. He’s also taught me to help people that have less than I do.
