When it come to being benevolent and giving, one individual comes to mind, Oprah Gail Winfrey. A hero to me is someone who is inspiring, caring, compassionate, and kind. My hero that I chose to submit on this website was Oprah Winfrey Oprah was born on January 20, 1954 and lived in Kosciusko, Mississippi. My hero that I chose to submit on this website was Oprah Winfrey. An astonishing billionaire woman who was sexually abused as a child by male relatives and friends of her mother, yet became a very successful woman that still lives today.

As a child Oprah was sexually abused from friends of her mother, Vernita. Oprah then lived with her Grandmother in Tennessee. Her grandmother, Hatie Mae Lee, taught Oprah how to read before the age of 3. She then had a full scholarship to TSU. Oprah made an enormous difference by raising a lot of money, then donating that money to charity. She owned 3 charities: Oprah Winfrey Foundation (OWF), Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network (OWAN), and the Oprah Winfrey Operating Foundation (OWOF). She contributed millions of dollars dedicated to building schools for children in developing countries. Oprah donated $40 million dollars for education and homes for children.

In 1986, Oprah made a TV show called : The Oprah Winfrey Show. A show in which Oprah talked about American pop-cultural consciousness. She used the Winfrey show to teach and inspire. In 2011, the year she retired, Oprah had a total of 5,461 episodes made and 25 seasons. On January 1, 2011 and July 29, 2012 Oprah produced and hosted 2 other TV shows: Oprah's Life class and Oprah's Next Chapter. Today they both remain as the highest-rated talk show in American television history.

Oprah has donated to millions of charities, which made a difference an enormous difference in my life. Oprah is positive, enthusiastic, intelligent, giving, selfless, caring, and compassionate. She has encouraged me to be positive, do well in school, or at least try, give to the people you love the most, and always be compassionate. She donated 40 million dollars to charity! What would you do if yo had 40 million dollars? Donate? Be greedy? Share? As you can see Oprah donated to charity.

In conclusion, a hero to me is inspiring, compassionate, positive, and caring. Oprah sets a perfect example of those traits of a hero. Oprah went through many things such as sexual abuse as a child, yet she was this successful throughout her life. Watching Oprah do many things, and inspiring others, has made me a better person. And that is what a hero is all about.
