I’m sure every girl has dreamed of being a Princess. Having the opportunity to own beautiful gowns, being called your Royal Highness, living in a castle, and owning priceless crowns and jewelry. Lady Diana Spencer has lived this dream. Lady Diana Spencer went from being an everyday average girl living life. Then her life turned drastically when she met Prince Charles and became Princess of Wales. Princess Diana was born on July 1st, 1961 in Norfolk, England. She was the third child out of her four siblings in her family. Diana’s parents were Lord and Lady Althrop; her father later became the eighth Earl Spencer in 1975. During Diana’s childhood she lived at Park House, which was located right next to the Royal family’s Sandringham home. As Diana matured life started to get harder for her. When she was eight her parents divorced and times for her weren't the greatest, especially when her father remarried in 1976. She went to Riddlesworth Hall and West Heath High School where she studied Ballet and later had a passion for it. While she went to High School she soon crossed paths with Prince Charles. Prince Charles and Princess Diana wanted to make their relationship more serious. And at the time Prince Charles wanted to marry Princess Diana but he thought she was too young due to a thirteen year age difference. They went their separate ways but later were seen together with Prince’s Royal family where she was visiting them at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland. On that day Prince Charles proposed to Diana and they got married on July 29th, 1981. That day Lady Diana Spencer became Princess Diana of Wales. On that day Princess Diana was ridden in a carriage as more than 700 million people watched from 58 different countries. Princess Diana is a hero because she strength and courage instilled in her.

Once characteristic that Princess Diana possesses is strength. Diana possesses strength because her life had its up and its downs like any “normal” person’s life would have. For example, when Diana’s parents divorced, she struggled with switching homes when she was sent to West Heath High School, which was a boarding school. When she had attended West Heath she would hang photos on her wall of Prince Charles. She had told her roommates “I would love to be a dancer---or Princess of Wales (Princess Diana Biography).” Later Diana dropped out of West Heath and became a cleaning lady. She helped clean people's homes until she was able to find a job as a kindergarten teacher. When Diana and Prince Charles were married they had two children together named William (oldest) and Henry (youngest). Sadly, Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage wasn’t a happy ending. They announced their divorce in July 1996 and it was finalized in August of 1996. Diana and Charles shared custody with their two sons and Diana was a part of every decision that was involved in William and Henry’s life. Once Princess Diana was divorced she lived in the Kensington Palace and received twenty million dollars and was still the owner of her priceless jewelry and gowns that she had when she was Princess. When Charles and Diana were divorced Prince Charles got re- married to Camilla Parker Bowles. In the late summer of 1997 Princess Diana was involved in a fatal car accident due to a high speed chase from the paparazzi while her driver was also illegally drunk. At the time Diana’s partner Dodi Al Fayed and the driver were killed instantly. Doctors were rushed to try and save Diana’s life. But, hours later Diana died of a cardiac arrest. There were public announcements all over the world hours later after her death to allow Prince Charles to explain to their sons about what had happened to their mother before the media would.

Lastly Princess Diana also possessed courage. Through all of the pain that Princess Diana had experienced she was able to relieve stress and sadness by providing her time to others who were in need and less fortunate than she was. Diana was involved in many social issues like homelessness and drug abuse. She gave time to patients who had diseases such as AIDS. Diana was involved in forty different charities and had attended more than one hundred and eighty different events involving all of her charities. Diana always said “I don’t just want to be a name on a letterhead” (Princess Diana, Princess of Wales: Diana`s Biography). She always wanted to see a smile on everybody’s face and even though she was once a Princess she was still a regular person who cared for and loved her family. Before our Royal Princess had died she made sure that both of her sons were highly involved in all of her charity work that she had put together. Because someday they would take over as Prince of Wales and their wife’s would be the Princesses.

Princess Diana is a hero for her strength and courage. She was willing to go the extra mile to make herself and others happy and to make a difference in the world and others lives. Princess Diana inspires others and myself by her hard work, strength, and her extreme courage. She teaches others to never give up on themselves and the ones around them. To go out of your way to do what’s right. And in the end to have each other. And even though our Royal Princess has died her legacy will live with us forever. “Everyone needs to be valued. Everyone has the potential to give something back” (Diana (1961-1997).
