Bono’s real name is Paul David Hewson. He was born on the 10th of May, 1960 in Glasnevin, amd is 48 years old. He is the lead singer in the band U2. Bono is a brilliant role-model and has travelled all over the world. He does a lot of humanitarian work and as part of it he has held benefit concerts, donated money to charity and founded companies such as EDUN. This is a clothing line that generates employment in the 3rd world. Bono has been awarded for the Nobel Peace prize and has been granted an honorary knighthood by the Queen of England.
Childhood: Bono was born in Ballymun in North Dublin. His mom was Iris and his dad was Brendan, he was always called Bobby though. He was a catholic priest. Bono started school at Inkwell, a small protestant junior school. He eventually moved on to St. Patrick's Cathedral choir school. Bono said 'I spent a year at St. Patrick's not being happy, and basically they asked me to leave.' This was largely because of him throwing dog poo at his Spanish teacher. This led to him going to a different school.
The making of U2: U2 was formed on the 25th of September 1976. Larry Mullen put a notice on the school notice board seeking musicians for a new band. Seven boys attended the first practice in Larry Mullen's kitchen. "For about 10 minutes it was called the Larry Mullen Band, then Bono came in and blew any chance of me being in charge" he said. The group featured Larry on drums, Bono on lead vocals, Dave Evans (The Edge) and his brother Dick Evans on on the guitar, Adam Clayton on bass guitar and at first Ivan McCormack and Peter Martin who were friends of Larry Mullen. When the band was formed they settled for the name 'Feedback'. Peter Martin left after the first practise and Ivan McCormack left after a couple of weeks.
We have learned that Bono is an inspiration because he is charitable, generous helps less fortunate people. He also has a good band that is successful and has performed world wide.
