Many celebrities use their fame and fortune for good, although not many do it as well as Paul Hewson, also known as Bono from the rock band U2. I believe Bono is a hero for many different reasons including his good influences, his humanitarian work, and his political activism.

First, I believe Bono is a hero because of his good influence on his fans. Someone who has as much fame as he does could use it for terrible things. Bono has always kept a good image. He has always tried to bring peace to every issue he can. I feel that Bono can be a good example to anybody.

Second, I think Bono is a hero because of his humanitarian work. Bono is very supportive of many different charities. He has increasingly become involved with third-world debt relief and to help diseases where medical treatment is hard to come by. In 2002, Bono founded an organization called DATA. DATA stands for Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa. His goal is to eliminate all poverty and HIV/AIDS from Africa. I respect Bono very deeply for his charity and humanitarian work.

Third, I believe Bono is a hero because of his political activism. Bono has never been afraid to stand up for what he believes in. His political activism has become so prominent that it almost caused his band, U2, to break up. Bono has many takes with world politicians and gives speeches on the same stages as them. Bono has even pressured the American government to aid Africa. Bono has participated in speeches along great politicians like George W. Bush, and even some Canadian Prime Ministers. Bono has won many awards for his political speeches and activism. He once said, "As a rock star, I have two instincts, I want to have fun, and I want to change the world. I have a chance to do both." I believe he has fully accomplished most of his goals.

As Bono progresses with his good influences, humanitarian work, and political activism, I believe he is becoming more and more of a hero every day. In my opinion, Bono will go down in history as one of the greatest celebrities of all time.
