"Bono aka Paul David Hewson, was born May 1960 in Glasnevin, Dublin, Ireland. He is the main vocalist in Irish rock band U2.

He went to Mount Temple Comprehensive School where he met his future wife, Ali Hewson, and the future members of U2. Ever since then people have called him Bono, his stage name and nickname. Bono writes almost all the U2 lyrics. He often uses political or religious themes.

Bono is also widely known for his activism concerning Africa, for which he co- founded DATA. He and his band have played several benefit concerts and have met with many politicians. He is the co-founder of EDUN, the One Campaign and Product Red. Bono has been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize, he was granted knighthood by the Queen of England and has received many other awards and nominations." Wikipedia

Bono has inspired people with his music and charity work. Bono has helped many other countries with his charity work as well as Ireland. Here are some of the other charities he is involved in: Conspiracy of hope, Amnesty International, Live Aid, Band Aid, World Vision and Festival Against Racism. He has also written many songs for other charities.
