Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson is a pro golfer with an outstanding work ethic and an even better outlook on life. He has a family and takes care of them, but also takes care of several other groups of people who are less privileged. He is a man who is looked up to by people all over the world, and me.

Mickelson has played in 22 PGA tours and has played in 41 major championships (Phillip). In 1990, he was the first left-hander to win the US amateur title. Mickelson's first win as a pro was in 1993 at Torrey Pines, and he continued to win many PGA Tour tournaments, including the Byron Nelson Golf Classic and the World Series in 1996 (Phillip). He has set several world records in golf. As a 44 year old man, Phil has lead a very rewarding life. He was born in San Diego, California and lives in Rancho Santa Fe, California. He went to Arizona State and has a wife, Amy, and three children, Amanda, Sophia and Evan (Bio).

Mickelsons' contributions to society have changed the lives of many. He has began "The Foundation", which initiates youth and family relationships by hosting events in which families can gather information on how to strengthen their relationships and become more faithful with each other (Bio). Another charity he has founded with his wife, Amy, is called "Start Smart". With Start Smart the Mickelson's go on a shopping spree to buy San Diego's 1,500 poorest children back to school supplies, food and clothes. The final contribution the family has made is called "Exxonmobil Teachers Academy". The academy is used to educate and empower teachers of third, fourth and fifth graders. It supplies them with supplies and curriculum to intrigue their students in learning and helps the teachers aid their students to remember knowledgeable information. In an interview with a magazine, Mickelson said: "We are lucky in life when we can pursue our passion, as I've been able to do in my career" (Thanks).

Phil Mickelson has made a huge impact on the people of, not only California, but the U.S.. He has inspired young golfers to pursue their hobby and has aided them in becoming successful. Through "Start Smart", he has given 1,500 students the ability to lead a happy life in school (Phillip). Through his Exxonmobil Teachers Academy he has been able to help initiate teachers I n the changing of their students lives. His ability to help others has grown tremendously since the start of his foundations. He has began "The Foundation", and through that has been able to be the glue between a struggling families bond. His most recent contribution and impact to society is his website On Course With Phil. With this website he has been able to help people understand Arthritis. He has been responsible for several peoples' progress and coping through the journey with arthritis. Phil Mickelson has helped society in many ways, and has helped with many different types of people (Thanks).

Phil Mickelson has impacted my life because of how he has sustained integrity and perseverance through a painful journey with arthritis. I have had arthritis for 8 years now and have been on the same medication Mickelson has. The way he continues to serve the community has inspired me to never quit serving, even on bad days. "This experience has inspired me to raise awareness and help others lead a better life with arthritis.", says Mickelson. His ability to turn a bad situation around and make it better has inspired me to do the same.
