Paul Revere

by Weston from Chicago

Nathan Hale was a very brave man. He had lots of courage, determination, and bravery. He was famous for two things. The Midnight Ride and the Boston Tea Party. He is my hero because he has the traits that we all need. He knew what to do when things don't go as planned. He knew when to stop and when to go.

In the midnight ride he saw the army marching towards Lexington. He knew this because he was warned by the shining lamp in a tower on the hill. He rode as fast as he could through Lexington yelling "The British are coming!!!" The minutemen who were trained to be ready for battle in less then one minute would have ammo and gun powder ready anytime of the day or night. At this occasion they were expecting it so they were ready much faster. The minutemen came out one by one, droopy-eyed. They went up to Lexington Green. They waited until the British were ready. They did not want to fight unless they have to. They didn't want to fight because the British had a bigger army than the minutemen did. The British said they would not fire until they did. That was the same with the minutemen. Then one of the minutemen fired at a British soldier. The British soldier fell over dead. They call that "the shot that could be heard around the world." The British fought until they were forced to retreat.

This changed me because if he didn't tell them, the British would have taken over and we would be part of Britain. He saved us from being taxed very high.

Nathan Hale also was in the Boston tea party. He dressed up as an Indian and helped sink the tea. He is my hero because he saved me and all of use from British rule.
