Pete Wentz was born on June 5th 1979, in Wilmette Illinois. He went to New Trier high school and North Shore Country Day School. Wentz played soccer and was an all-state soccer player. Pete played piano as a child but switched over to bass when he got older. After he graduated from high school in 1997, Pete furthered his studies at DePaul University where he majored in political science. He dropped out just before graduation to follow his dream of having a music career.
In the 1990's Wentz was involved in many different bands but his main band was called Arma Angelus. Wentz and the bassist of Arma Angelus Joe Troman came together to create the pop-punk band Fall Out Boy after meeting up with Patrick Stump(vocals and guitar) and Andy Hurley(drummer). In 2004 Arma Angelus played its last show and Pete's first band broke up. In 2002 Fall Out Boy released a demo cd called Fall Out Boy/Project Rocket EP. Fall Out Boy released their first CD under the record label Uprising Records, that was named Fall Out Boys Evening Out With Your Girlfriend.
Fall Out Boys second album "Take this to your Grave" was under the record label fueled by Ramen Records. Later in 2003 Pete and his Fall Out Boy bandmates signed with Island Records. In 2005 Fall Out Boy released their third album "From under the cork tree". Wentz wrote the lyrics to the first hit single of this album called "Sugar we're goin down" with his dad. The song reached #8 on the Billboard hot 100.
Nowadays Pete is working on his newest band project called Black Cards. He released two songs from this new band on their websites called "Club Called Heaven" and "Beating in my Chest" in 2010. Black Cards drummer is Spencer Peterson from Saves the Day. The Black Cards guitarist is Nate Patterson from The Receiving End of Sirens. Pete has also written a book called "The Boy With the Thorne In His Side. Pete has his own signature Squire Precision Bass that came out in 2007.
Pete no lives in Los Angeles with his wife Ashley Simpson, his son Bronx Mowgli and his dogs. Wentz is important to me because his bass playing inspired me to pick up a bass of my own.
