i built a web about him |
Patrick Chan was born on December 31, 1990 in Ottawa Ontario. He is an only child of Chinese parents. They came from Hong Kong and settled in Canada. Patrick speaks three languages-Cantonese, English and French. He went to a French Immersion school in Toronto where he could practice his French and English. As well, his mom speaks to him in Cantonese and English and his dad speaks to him in French and English so he is able to talk and understand the three languages.

He began skating at the age of five and is now a famous Canadian figure skater. His rise to fame began in 2003 when he won the pre-novice title. The next year, he won the novice title followed by the junior title in 2005. Some of Patrick’s hobbies are playing video games, golfing and playing tennis. One of the reasons why he started figure skating was so he could skate better at hockey. He found out he liked figure skating more so he dropped hockey and kept figure skating.

This Picture is about Patrick Chan and some of hi (Eric drew the picture) |
Patrick was a typical teenager growing up, eating French fries and hamburgers and going to bed late. However, it started affecting his skating so he knew he had to become healthier. He started going to bed earlier and eating more nutritious foods. As he changed his eating habits, his skating changed too. He tried harder in practice and got better and better at skating. With all this practicing, Patrick tore a muscle in his leg which set back his practice schedule. He was having so many problems; people were wondering if he would actually make it to the Olympics.

To add to his troubles, his coach resigned. However, Nichol, Chan’s choreographer, was a coach as well so she became his coach and choreographer. Another new member of his team is Krall who helps to figure out problems and solve them so Patrick’s skating can get even better. And it has gotten better. Patrick was voted the male athlete of the year in Ontario in 2009. He placed 5th in the men’s event in the Winter Olympics games in Vancouver 2010 and is ranked 7th in the world by the international Skating Union. He is planning on taking gold in Sochi, Russia in 2014. When Patrick is not training for the Olympics, he skates for Fiesta on Ice. He has been compared to world class skaters like Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko. He uses the comparison to improve his skating rather than making him nervous. His motto is “Just enjoy what is happening” and I think he does that very well.
