My hero is Paul Rodriguez. Paul Rodriguez is my hero because he is a man of courage and ability. He was born December 31, 1984. Paul’s dad bought him a skateboard when he was twelve. When Paul first started to skate, he caught on quickly. He got better at the age of 14 and got sponsored. He went pro at sixteen and won his first street X Games. Tony Hawks Underground was the first video game he starred in. After that, Paul had an interview with ESPN. They asked him what he likes to skate. He said, “Ledges and stair rails.”

Paul looks comfortable on his board like anyone could do it. He is very careful and barely falls. Paul has lots of amazing tricks. He says that he was a gifted skater and was born to ride. In 2003 he appeared in the movie Grind. Then in 2004 he got sponsored by Nike. In 2005 he won first place in the FTC flat ground best trick. He took third in the Dew Tour Park Contest.

Paul says that it’s every kid’s dream to become pro at skateboarding. Paul says that’s even more than he expected. He also says he doesn’t skate to please people. He started skating because he loved to skate. Paul says that he loves being a pro skater and skating for some of the best sponsors.

Paul Rodriguez is important to me because he is a good skater and a role model. He is a role model because he encourages you to go out and skate. This hero has made a difference in my life for getting me into skating and being a good person. I have learned that Paul skates for the fun of it, not to please people.
